  1. 1. Kinetic Studies of NOx Storage and Reduction Catalysts - Flow Reactor Experiments and Microkinetic Modeling

    Författare :Anna Maria Lindholm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NOx reduction; flow reactor experiments; NOx storage; Pt Ba Al; NSR catalyst; microkinetic modeling; combined NSR and SCR system;

    Sammanfattning : The NOx storage and reduction (NSR) technology is a promising technique to reduce NOx during oxygen excess e.g. in lean burn engine exhaust. A typical NSR catalyst consists of the following components: precious metals, such as platinum, palladium or rhodium, a storage component, usually barium, and a high surface area support, such as γ-alumina. 2. 2. Fundamental Studies of Catalytic NOx Removal - Micro Kinetic Modelling, Monte Carlo Simulations and Flow Reactor Experiments

    Författare :Louise Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NO oxidation; Monte Carlo simulations; platinum oxide; kinetic modelling; NOx storage; barium oxide; environmental catalysis; NOx removal; platinum; flow reactor measurements;

    Sammanfattning : It is essential to decrease the CO2 emissions from vehicles, since CO2 is a greenhouse gas. One way to improve fuel economy and decrease CO2 emissions, is to run the engine with oxygen excess, so-called lean-burn operation. However, a major problem here is the reduction of the NOx in a lean atmosphere. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Speeding up the Atmosphere : Experimental oxidation studies of ambient and laboratory aerosols using a flow reactor

    Författare :Erik Ahlberg; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Secondary organic aerosols; oxidation flow reactor; volatile organic compounds; climate;

    Sammanfattning : Apart from gases, the air we breath consist of tiny, so called, aerosol particles. A cubic metre of air in a relatively clean environment can consist of several billion aerosol particles. The impact of these particles on human health and on climate is significant. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies of Supported Catalysts for Environmental Applications: - Flow Reactor Measurements, Monte Carlo Simulations and High Throughput Screening

    Författare :Peter Thormählen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide; supported heterogeneous catalysts; flow reactor measurements; high throughput screening; low temperature catalytic activity; cobalt oxide; platinum; temperature programmed methods; Monte Carlo simulations; environmental catalysis;

    Sammanfattning : The use of heterogeneous catalysts for environmental applications, primarily for reduction of harmful emissions from vehicles and stationary sources, has successively increased during the last three decades. Driven by emission regulations, research and development within this area attract large interest and resources, especially for automotive applications. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Entrained flow studies on biomass fuel powder conversion and ash formation

    Författare :Per Holmgren; Markus Broström; Kentaro Umeki; Rainer Backman; Kevin Whitty; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermochemical biomass conversion; particle image velocimetry; gasification; entrained flow reactor; ash transformation; equilibrium calculations; slag formation;

    Sammanfattning : Reducing the global dependence on fossil fuels is of paramount importance in tackling the environmental challenges we face, not only tomorrow, but already today. Biomass offers a renewable supply of CO2-neutral raw material that can be converted into many different forms of fuels and valuable chemicals, making it a prime candidate for the technologies of tomorrow.
