1. Droplet Breakup in Automotive Spray Painting
Sammanfattning : Paint and surface treatment processes in a car paint shop are to a largeextent automated and performed by robots. Having access to tools thatincorporate the flexibility of robotic path planning with fast and efficientsimulation of the processes is important to reduce the time required forintroduction of new car models, reduce the environmental impact and increasethe quality. 2. Dynamics of Fluid Particles in Turbulent Flows; CFD simulations, Model Development and Phenomenological Studies
Sammanfattning : The thesis investigates the dynamics of fluid particles in turbulent flows, which plays an important role in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and petroleum industries. Phenomenological studies, new mathematical models for the breakup phenomena, and development of a simulation method for chemical reactors constitute the main parts of this thesis. LÄS MER
3. Modeling and simulation of rotary bell spray atomizers in automotive paint shops
Sammanfattning : The paint and surface treatment processes in automotive paint shops are characterized by multiphase and free surface flows, multiphysics interactions, multiscale phenomena, and large moving geometries. The current version of the software for simulation of spray painting developed at the Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre relies on measurements of droplet size distributions and velocity profiles below the applicator that can be used as input to the simulations. 4. In-Nozzle Flow and Primary Breakup Investigations of Marine Two-Stroke Diesel Engine Injectors
Sammanfattning : This thesis will focus on the experimental studies of in-nozzle flow and primary breakup of pressure-atomized fuel sprays as used in large marine two-stroke Diesel engines. To further increase the efficiency of large marine two-stroke Diesel engines, a better understanding of the fuel spray atomization process is necessary. LÄS MER
5. Numerical and experimental study of turbulent drop breakup in high-pressure homogenizers
Sammanfattning : Emulsification is the process of making stable mixture of two or more immiscible substances (typically oil and water). The product of this process, the emulsion, is found in various applications and industries such as food (milk and other dairy products, non-dairy alternatives, mayonnaise, salad dressing), cosmetics and pharmaceuticals (creams, lotions, intravenous medications), chemical (paints, cleaning products), etc. LÄS MER
