11. Fault Injection for Studying Error Behavior and Validation of Error Detecting Mechanisms
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the design and validation of low-cost error detecting mechanisms that can be used to implement self-checking computers. The research objectives of the thesis are three-fold: (i) to investigate and develop a simulation-based fault injection technique that can be used on a wide range of VHDL simulation models, (ii) to investigate error propagation mechanisms in microprocessors in order to understand how to design low-cost error detecting mechanisms and (iii) to design and validate error detecting mechanisms. 12. Hardware and Software Mechanisms for Control Flow Checking
Sammanfattning : The improvement of dependability in computing systems requires the evaluation of fault tolerance mechanisms such as error detection, error recovery and reconfiguration. Central to this thesis is an experimental evaluation of several hardware and/or software implemented mechanisms for the concurrent detection of control flow errors. LÄS MER

14. An Experimental Study of Fluid Dynamics and Mixing in Bubbly Gas-Liquid Flow Systems
Sammanfattning : In the present project, a new experimental method enabling Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF) measurements in bubbly gas-liquid flows is presented. Due to reflection and refraction of the laser light, the bubbles will cause an uneven and unknown distribution of light intensity in the measurement plane. LÄS MER
15. In-Nozzle Flow and Primary Breakup Investigations of Marine Two-Stroke Diesel Engine Injectors
Sammanfattning : This thesis will focus on the experimental studies of in-nozzle flow and primary breakup of pressure-atomized fuel sprays as used in large marine two-stroke Diesel engines. To further increase the efficiency of large marine two-stroke Diesel engines, a better understanding of the fuel spray atomization process is necessary. LÄS MER
