   Sammanfattning : The thesis is divided into two main parts, the first onedealing with heat transfer in the evaporator and the secondone dealing with simulations of the whole heat pump cyclewith nonazeotropic mixtures. One of the aims with the heat transfer studies was to investigate if the additional mass transfer resistance, introduced when mixtures are used, can be reduced in a thin falling film with high turbulence compared with corresponding one for a horizontal tube.    Sammanfattning : An evaporator facility has been constructed to measure local values of heat transfer and pressure drop. The evaporator resembles a normal working evaporator tube in a direct-expansion evaporator applicable to large heat pump/refrigeration cycles, typically over 500 kW.    Sammanfattning : Sodium salt scaling has long been recognized as a problem in the recovery cycle of kraft pulp mills, especially in black liquor evaporators. In the black liquor evaporation, as the black liquor becomes more concentrated, the sodium salts, particularly sodium carbonate and sodium sulfate, will saturate and precipitate from the solution.
