  1. 26. Decentralization in energy systems - Low-carbon technologies and sector coupling on the household, community and city scales

    Författare :Verena Heinisch; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Prosumers; Energy system flexibility; Decentralization; Energy community; Smart city; Sector coupling; Electric vehicles; Energy systems modeling;

    Sammanfattning : The number of installations of distributed energy technologies, such as solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery systems, has increased dramatically in recent decades. The required transition towards a decarbonized energy system entails electrification of the different sectors. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Increasing Energy Efficiency in Electric Trains Operation : Driver Advisory Systems and Energy Storage

    Författare :Nima Ghaviha; Erik Dahlquist; Markus Bohlin; Fredrik Wallin; Rob M.P. Goverde; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Driver Advisory System; Catenary-free Operation; Electric Train; Electric Multiple Unit; Battery; Energy Efficiency; Energy Storage; Speed Profile Optimization; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Electric traction is the most efficient traction system in the railway transportation. However, due to the expensive infrastructure and high power demand from the grid, the share of electric trains in the railway transportation is still lower than other trains. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Winter Road Maintenance using Renewable Thermal Energy

    Författare :Josef Johnsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydronic pavements; borehole thermal energy storage; winter road maintenance; BRIDGESIM; numerical simulations; BTES; renewable energy;

    Sammanfattning : Winter road maintenance is costly but it is inevitable since it is necessary to keep roads accessible and safe during winter. Current winter road maintenance methods use annually 600 000 tons of salt, in the Nordic countries. The salt ends up in the environment along the roads and results in environmental challenges. Författare :Lukas Lundström; Erik Dahlquist; Fredrik Wallin; Björn Karlsson; Jan Akander; Sven Werner; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; district heating; energy conservation; weather normalisation; typical meteorological year; building energy simulation; system analysis; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Increased energy performance of the building stock of European Union is seen as an important measure towards mitigating climate change, increasing resource utilisation efficiency and energy supply security. Whether to improve the supply-side, the demand-side or both is an open issue. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Applicability of thermal energy storage in future district heating system - Design methodologies and performance evaluations

    Författare :Yichi Zhang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; low-temperature district heating; demand-side management; low energy buildings; Thermal energy storage; district heating; variable renewable energy;

    Sammanfattning : District heating (DH) enables efficient and economical utilization of energy resources to satisfy the heat and hot water demands in buildings and is, thereby, well-established in Northern European countries. To achieve the future renewable energy system, the current DH systems are proved to undergo transitions towards the future DH systems, with major characteristics including renewable-based heat sources, low temperature networks, lower heating demands and smart controls.
