    Sammanfattning : One pressing challenge of many modern embedded systems is to successfully deal with the considerable amount of data that originates from the interaction with the environment. A recent solution comes from the use of GPUs. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Sensor Networks and Their Radio Environment : On Testbeds, Interference, and Broken Packets

    Författare :Frederik Hermans; Per Gunningberg; Edith Ngai; Andreas Terzis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sensor networks; Testbed; Mobility; Interference classification; Packet corruption; Computer Science with specialization in Computer Communication; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot datorkommunikation;

    Sammanfattning : Sensor networks consist of small sensing devices that collaboratively fulfill a sensing task, such as monitoring the soil in an agricultural field or measuring vital signs in a marathon runner. To avoid cumbersome and expensive cabling, nodes in a sensor network are powered by batteries and communicate wirelessly. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Problematizing Sustainable ICT

    Författare :Per Fors; Thomas Taro Lennerfors; Marcus Lindahl; Saara Taalas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sustainable ICT; Sustainable human-computer interaction; Green IT; Problematization; Sustainable entrepreneurship; Engineering Science with specialization in industrial engineering and management; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot industriell teknik;

    Sammanfattning : How should we understand the relationship between information and communication technology (ICT) and sustainability? Generally, it is assumed that while ICT products contribute to many environmental and social problems as they are produced and disposed of, the potential of using ICT to achieve a more sustainable society is immense. However, despite the fact that such a discourse is favored not only in the industrial but also in the political and academic spheres, we have yet to see this presumed sustainability-related potential of ICT fully exploited. 5. 30. Values and perspectives affecting IT systems development and usability work

    Författare :Åsa Cajander; Jan Gulliksen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot människa-datorinteraktion; Computer Science with specialization in Human-Computer Interaction;

    Sammanfattning : Computer supported work is often stressful and inadequate computer systems and poor usability contribute to the problem. Still the work situation, and work environment of users are seldom considered when developing computer systems, and it is difficult to incorporate the ideas of User Centred Systems Design (UCSD) in practice.
