  1. 1. Role of caveolin-1 in brown adipose tissue

    Författare :Charlotte L. Mattsson; Barbara Cannon; Paul Pilch; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; caveolin; brown adipose tissue; metabolism; signaling; Physiology; Fysiologi; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Caveolae are 50-100 nm invaginations in the plasma membrane. Caveolae and the protein caveolin-1 (Cav1) have been shown to be important in many signaling pathways in different cell types; however, in some cell types caveolae and Cav1 do not seem to affect the investigated signaling pathways. 2. 2. Adaptive mechanisms in the hypoxic tumor microenvironment. Functional role of proteoglycans and identification of potential treatment targets

    Författare :Julien Menard; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :Hypoxia; Acidosis; Proteoglycans; Endocytosis; Glioblastoma; Lipid; Caveolin-1; Antibody-drug conjugate;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer cells reside in a complex microenvironment comprising stromal cells and immune cells embedded in an extracellular matrix (ECM). Early on in tumor progression, cells reach a critical volume beyond which blood supply is impaired, leading to a decrease in oxygen levels (hypoxia) and nutrient supply. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hormonal regulation of phosphodiesterase 3B in adipocytes

    Författare :Rebecka Lindh; Signaltransduktionsforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; Endocrinology; caveolae localization ; phosphorylation interactions ; PDE3B adipocyte adipose tissue diabetes cAMP insulin ; lipolysis caveolin-1 ; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin induced activation of the cAMP degrading enzyme phosphodiesterase (PDE) 3B in adipocytes is important for insulin mediated inhibition of lipolysis. The aim of this thesis was to contribute with knowledge on the acute activation of PDE3B in response to insulin and catecholamines in adipocytes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Subcellular localization and signalling of Brutons tyrosine kinase (Btk)

    Författare :Leonardo Vargas-Vallejo; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :B-cells; Brutons tyrosine kinase; X-linked agammaglobulinemia; pleckstrin homology domain; cytoskeleton; nucleocytoplasmic shuttling; caveolin-1; ubiquitin; SUMO-1.;

    Sammanfattning : Brutons tyrosine kinase (Btk) is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase related to the Src family of kinases. Mutations in various parts of the gene have been shown to cause X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA), a primary immunodeficiency in humans, characterized by a defect in B-cell development. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mechanosensing in the vascular wall - the role of cellular microdomains in vascular remodeling

    Författare :Sebastian Albinsson; Kärlfysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology; tissue culture; Histologi; cytokemi; histokemi; vävnadskultur; cytochemistry; histochemistry; wall stress; shear stress; hypertension; Histology; differentiation; growth; caveolin; smooth muscle; actin; Fysiologi; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : The vascular wall has a remarkable capacity to adapt to mechanical forces exerted by the intraluminal blood pressure and flow. This includes rapid change in contractile tone as well as chronic alteration of vessel structure if the stimulus persists. Stretch of the intact blood vessel wall promotes growth and contractile differentiation. LÄS MER
