21. Timber-concrete hybrid structural systems : Examples, long and short-term dynamic monitoring, and numerical analysis
Sammanfattning : Timber-concrete hybrid buildings are an innovative solution to increase the amount of timber materials in modern buildings. Due to its lower impact on the environment than materials like steel and concrete, the demand for timber products is rising as the construction industry aims to decrease its environmental footprint. 22. Spatial and Economic Values of Ecosystem Services : The Case of Sweden's Forests
Sammanfattning : The objective of this licentiate thesis is to determine the value of ecosystem services and their relative importance, and to develop methods to weight these benefits against the market value of timber and other uses for forests. These issues are addressed in two papers with a focus on spatial modeling of ecosystem services and the method of benefit transfer. LÄS MER
23. Intestinal absorption of drugs : The impact of regional permeability, nanoparticles, and absorption-modifying excipients
Sammanfattning : For successful delivery of orally given drug products, the drug compounds must have adequate solubility and permeability in the human gastrointestinal tract. The permeability of a compound is determined by its size and lipophilicity, and is usually evaluated in various pre-clinical models, including rat models. LÄS MER
24. On the relation between nerve fibres and glial cells
Sammanfattning : The general aim of this study is to generate knowledge on the normal axo-glial relations in developing and adult vertebrate white matter. CNS and PNS specimens from developing and mature rats and from chickens of various ages were analysed through electron microscopy of single and serial sections, or through immunohistochemistry. 25. Hepatocyte transplantation : experimental and clinical studies
Sammanfattning : Hepatocyte transplantation is an experimental treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease and inborn metabolic liver disorders. Studies in animal models and human trials have shown that allogenic hepatocytes infused through the portal vein physiologically integrate into the liver parenchyma, replacing missing liver function.
