21. Investigation of asphalt compaction in vision of improving asphalt pavements
Sammanfattning : Asphalt joints are potentially weakest parts of every pavement. Despite of their importance, reliable tools for measuring their mechanical properties for design and performance assessments are still scarce. LÄS MER
22. In-situ assessment of density and material properties in timber structures by non-destructive and semi-destructive testing
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACTIn the assessment of timber structures, diagnostic investigations of the structural members and connections are generally necessary. The assessment often requires appropriate non-destructive testing (NDT) and semi-destructive testing (SDT) techniques. LÄS MER
23. Dicke narrowing and speed-dependent effects in dispersion signals : Influence on assessment of concentration and spectral parameters by noise-immune cavity-enhanced optical heterodyne molecular spectrometry
Sammanfattning : Laser spectroscopic techniques have, during the last decades, demonstrated an extraordinary capability for sensitive detection of molecular constituents in gas phase. Since spectra from such techniques constitute unique and characteristic signatures for each type of species, these techniques enable investigations of molecular structures as well as detection of the presence of species in a gas mixture. 24. Recovery and prediction of hand motor function after stroke : a longitudinal study using novel methods to quantify hand function and connectivity in brain networks
Sammanfattning : Background: Stroke is a heterogeneous disease and a leading cause of physical disability among adults, severely affecting people’s health and life worldwide. According to current figures, one in four people risk suffering a stroke during their lifetime. LÄS MER
25. A Helping Hand : On Innovations for Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on assistive and rehabilitation technology for restoring the function of the hand. It presents three different approaches to assistive technology: one in the form of an orthosis, one in the form of a brain-computer interface combined with functional electrical stimulation and finally one totally aiming at rehabilitating the nervous system by restoring brain function using the concept of neuroplasticity.
