  1. 1. Idiopathic parkinsonism : epidemiology and clinical characteristics of a population-based incidence cohort

    Författare :Jan Linder; Lars Forsgren; Ole-Bjørn Tysnes; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parkinsonism; Parkinson s disease; Multiple system atrophy; Progressive supranuclear palsy; Incidence; Magnetic resonance tomography; Electromyography; Oculomotor;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Idiopathic parkinsonism is a neurodegenerative syndrome of unknown cause and includes Parkinson’s disease (PD) and atypical parkinsonian disorders. The atypical parkinsonian disorders are: Multiple system atrophy (MSA), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and corticobasal degeneration (CBD). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nuclear medicine methods in idiopathic Parkinsonism : pre- and postsynaptic dopamine SPECT

    Författare :Susanna Jakobson Mo; Katrine Åhlström Riklund; Anne Larsson Strömvall; Lars Forsgren; Rimma Axelsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nuclear medicine; SPECT; 123I-FP-Cit; 123I-IBZM; dopamine; parkinsonism; Parkinson’s disease; multiple system atrophy; progressive supranuclear palsy; Radiology; radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with dopamine transporter (DAT) and dopamine D2 receptor (D2R) ligands can visualise the integrity of the nigrostriatal dopamine system. Parkinson’s disease (PD) and the atypical parkinsonian diseases (APD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and multiple system atrophy (MSA), have similar symptoms and dopamine depletion, but differ in pharmacological response and prognosis. 4. 4. Magnetic resonance imaging techniques for diagnostics in Parkinson's disease and atypical parkinsonism

    Författare :Henrik Sjöström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by rigidity, hypokinesia, tremor and postural instability. PD is a clinical diagnosis based on neurological examination, patient history and treatment response. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Molecular imaging of tau in the pathological cascade of Alzheimer’s disease

    Författare :Konstantinos Chiotis; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The pathology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterised by the misfolding and aggregation of amyloid-β (Aβ) into extracellular plaques and aggregation of tau into intracellular neurofibrillary tangles. Recent advances in molecular imaging have allowed the development of positron emission tomography (PET) tracers for the in vivo detection of Aβ plaques while current efforts focus on the evaluation of recently proposed tracers targeting tau pathology.
