  1. 1. Idiopathic parkinsonism epidemiology and clinical characteristics of a population-based incidence cohort

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Författare :Jan Linder; Umeå universitet.; Umeå universitet.; [2012]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parkinsonism; Parkinson s disease; Multiple system atrophy; Progressive supranuclear palsy; Incidence; Magnetic resonance tomography; Electromyography; Oculomotor;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Idiopathic parkinsonism is a neurodegenerative syndrome of unknown cause and includes Parkinson’s disease (PD) and atypical parkinsonian disorders. The atypical parkinsonian disorders are: Multiple system atrophy (MSA), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and corticobasal degeneration (CBD). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nuclear medicine methods in idiopathic Parkinsonism pre- and postsynaptic dopamine SPECT

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå Universitet

    Författare :Susanna Jakobson Mo; Umeå universitet.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nuclear medicine; SPECT; 123I-FP-Cit; 123I-IBZM; dopamine; parkinsonism; Parkinson’s disease; multiple system atrophy; progressive supranuclear palsy; Radiology; radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with dopamine transporter (DAT) and dopamine D2 receptor (D2R) ligands can visualise the integrity of the nigrostriatal dopamine system. Parkinson’s disease (PD) and the atypical parkinsonian diseases (APD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and multiple system atrophy (MSA), have similar symptoms and dopamine depletion, but differ in pharmacological response and prognosis. 4. 4. Heredity in Parkinson's disease. From rare mutations to common genetic risk factors

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University

    Författare :Andreas Puschmann; [2011]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parkinson s disease; parkinsonism; genetics; alpha-synuclein; SNCA duplicaion; SNCA triplication; LRRK2; PARKIN; PARK2; VPS35; EIF4G1; rare variants; digenic inheritance; heritability;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigated genetic causes of Parkinson's disease (PD) and parkinsonism in southern Sweden. The extensive Lister Family with parkinsonism caused by duplications and triplications of the gene for alpha-synuclein (SNCA) was studied. Clinical, genetic and genealogical data were compiled and evaluated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Selective Retention of β-Carbolines and 7,12-Dimethylbenz[a]anthracene in the Brain Role of Neuromelanin and Cytochrome P450 for Toxicity

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Anna Östergren; Uppsala universitet.; [2005]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Toxicology; β-carboline; neuromelanin; norharman; harman; parkinsonism; Parkinson s disease; motoric impairment; behaviour; glia cells; substantia nigra; dopamine melanin; PC12 cells; ER stress; grp78; hsp90; cytochrome P450; CYP1A1; CYP1B1; blood-brain interfaces; 7; 12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon; endothelial cell; smooth muscle cell; bioactivation; Toxikologi; PHARMACY Toxicology; FARMACI Toxikologi; Toxicology; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The ß-carbolines norharman and harman structurally resemble the synthetic compound 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) that is known for its ability to damage neuromelanin-containing dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra and thereby induce parkinsonism. MPTP is, however, not normally present in the environment whereas the ß-carbolines are present in cooked food and tobacco smoke. LÄS MER
