  1. 16. Development of Methods to Investigate Pulmonary Arterial Smooth Muscle Cells under Hypoxia

    Författare :Joel Wahl; Kerstin Ramser; Mikael Sjödahl; Fredrik Nikolajeff; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Experimental Mechanics; Experimentell mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction (HPV) is a physiological response to localized alveolarhypoxia that is intrinsic to the pulmonary circulation. By hypoxia-induced contractionof pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs), the pulmonary capillary bloodflow is redirected to alveolar areas of high oxygen partial pressure, thus maintaining theventilation-perfusion ratio. 2. 17. Advanced Machine Learning Methods for Oncological Image Analysis

    Författare :Mehdi Astaraki; Chunliang Wang; Örjan Smedby; Iuliana Toma-Dasu; Bjoern Menze; KTH; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Medical Image Analysis; Machine Learning; Deep Learning; Survival Analysis; Early Response Assessment; Tumor Classification; Tumor Segmentation; Medicinsk teknologi; Medical Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer is a major public health problem, accounting for an estimated 10 million deaths worldwide in 2020 alone. Rapid advances in the field of image acquisition and hardware development over the past three decades have resulted in the development of modern medical imaging modalities that can capture high-resolution anatomical, physiological, functional, and metabolic quantitative information from cancerous organs. 3. 18. Ultrasonic Methods for Quantitative Carotid Plaque Characterization

    Författare :Erik Widman; Matilda Larsson; Mark L. Palmeri; KTH; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Atherosclerosis; Cardiovascular Disease; Carotid Artery; Elasticity; ex vivo; in vivo; Phantom; Plaque; Polyvinyl Alcohol; Pulse Wave Imaging; Shear Wave Elastography; Speckle Tracking; Stroke; Ultrasound; Medical Technology; Medicinsk teknologi; Atherosclerosis;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of death worldwide and improved diagnostic methods are needed for early intervention and to select the most suitable treatment for patients. Currently, carotid artery plaque vulnerability is typically determined by visually assessing ultrasound B-mode images, which is influenced by user-subjectivity. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Material Modelling of Adipose Tissue for Traffic Injury Prevention

    Författare :Hosein Naseri; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Finite element human body models; Global sensitivity analysis; Obesity; Adipose tissue; Constitutive modelling; Submarining;

    Sammanfattning : Traffic injury is one of the main reasons for traumatic injuries. Obese occupants are among the vulnerable populations with a higher risk of death and severe injuries. Notably, obesity is associated with a thick layer of subcutaneous adipose (fat) tissue. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Towards the Inclusion of Pelvis Population Variance in Human Body Models

    Författare :Erik Brynskog; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Finite Element Human Body Model; Sparse Principal Component Analysis; Global Sensitivity Analysis; Pelvis; Population Variance;

    Sammanfattning : With a future large-scale introduction of autonomous vehicles, the proportion of intersection crashes on the total number of motor vehicle crashes is expected to increase. The pelvis is frequently exposed to high loads in several of these impacts. LÄS MER
