  1. 1. Global stability analysis of complex fluids

    Författare :Iman Lashgari; Luca Brandt; Francois Gallaire; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-Newtonian flow; Carreau model; Oldroyd-B model; FENE-P model; modal analysis; nonmodal analysis; sensitivity analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The main focus of this work is on the non-Newtonian effects on the inertial instabilities in shear flows. Both inelastic (Carreau) and elastic models (Oldroyd-B and FENE-P) have been employed to examine the main features of the non-Newtonian fluids; shear-thinning, shear-thickening and elasticity. 2. 2. Wind Turbine Drive Train System Dynamics ; Multibody Dynamic Modelling and Global Sensitivity Analysis

    Författare :Saeed Asadi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Global sensitivity analysis; Model validation; Multibody dynamics system mod-elling; Gearbox modelling; Kinematic constraints; Bearing defects detection; Wind turbine drive train dynamics; Floating reference frame;

    Sammanfattning : To facilitate the design and production of highly efficient and reliable wind turbine drive trains, this thesis deals with the mathematical modelling and analysis of drive train system dynamics. The drive train is considered as the subsystem of the wind turbine that transfers mechanical power from the rotor hub to the generator, and thereby plays an important role in the system dynamics and the efficiency of wind turbine operation. 3. 3. Quantifying hydroclimatic change impacts on infectious diseases : Signals and geographies from local to global scale

    Författare :Yan Ma; Georgia Destouni; Zahra Kalantari; Arvid Bring; Rita Colwell; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydroclimatic change; infectious diseases; climate sensitivity; disease geography; quantitative study; scoping review; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Hydroclimatic change has the potential to directly or indirectly increase the occurrence and expand or shift the geographical range of infectious diseases. This may pose particular threats in the Nordic-Arctic Region, where warming is more rapid than in other parts of the world, but the climate sensitivities of various infectious diseases still remain to be investigated in this and other regions. 4. 4. Exploring spatial and temporal resolution in energy systems modelling : a model-based analysis focused on the developing electricity systems

    Författare :Nandi Moksnes; Viktoria Martin; Mark I. Howells; William Usher; Holger Rogner; Hannah Daly; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy system optimisation modelling; Global sensitivity analysis; Robust decision methods; Geospatial electrification model; SDG7; SDG13.; Energisystem; optimering; energimodellering; Global känslighetsanalys; Robust decision methods; geospatial elektrifieringsmodell; Globala mål 7; Globala mål 13; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The energy system is undergoing a transition in many parts of the world with this transition being driven by several factors such as climate change, and economic and social development. Agenda 2030, with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has set the direction on where development should be focussed. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Receptivity, Stability and Sensitivity analysis of two- and three-dimensional flows

    Författare :Guillaume Chauvat; Ardeshir Hanifi; Dan S. Henningson; Ulrich Rist; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; boundary-layers; stability; receptivity; sensitivity; transition; mode decomposition; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This work deals with various aspects of boundary-layer stability. Modal and non-modal approaches are first used in the study of the global stability of a jet in crossflow. LÄS MER
