11. Life after Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
Sammanfattning : Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a devastating disease with mean age of 59 years. SAH accounts for 5% of all stroke and more than one quarter of potential life years lost through stroke. With the advanced neurosurgical methods of today two thirds of the patients survive. LÄS MER
12. Coping, Psychiatric Morbidity and Perceived Care in Patients with Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Haemorrhage
Sammanfattning : Many patients with an aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) exhibit difficulties in rehabilitation, even in cases of a good prognosis. The present project investigates this using qualitative methods and standardised outcome measures. LÄS MER
13. Monitoring of extracellular substances after spontaneous and experimental subarachnoid hemorrhage
Sammanfattning : Even though survival is considerably enhanced after surgical treatment of an aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), there is a critical period, which keeps the patient in intensive care for days or even weeks. Complications, such as vasospasm, ischemia and brain edema ultimately lead to further brain damage. LÄS MER
14. Clinical Studies in the Acute Phase of Subarachnoid Haemorrhage
Sammanfattning : Patients admitted in similar clinical condition after spontaneous SAH can develop very different clinical courses. This could depend on the severity of the initial global ischemic brain injury at ictus. LÄS MER
15. The Neurological Wake-up Test in Neurocritical Care
Sammanfattning : The neurological wake-up test, NWT, is a clinical monitoring tool that can be used to evaluate the level of consciousness in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) during neurocritical care (NCC). Since patients with severe TBI or SAH are often treated with mechanical ventilation and sedation, the NWT requires that the continuous sedation is interrupted. LÄS MER
