31. Liquid Crystals in Guided Wave Optics
Sammanfattning : Liquid crystals are unique optical materials due to their large effective electrooptic and opto-optic coefficients. Currently, liquid crystals are primarily used in flat-panel dis-plays, but there is also an increasing number of nondisplay applications requiring new types of devices employing materials with unique optical properties. 32. Thin Layers in Elastic Wave Propagation -Effective Modelling and Diffraction
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, the interest is focussed on the problem of effective modelling of thin interface layers for applications in elastic wave scattering. The layers are considered to be thin compared with wavelengths involved and it is shown that when all effects to lowest order in the layer thickness are included, we get boundary conditions (BCs) which have a number of nice features, including the one of implying that no scattering occurs when the layer has material parameters identical to the ones in the matrix medium. 33. Buoy for linear wave energy converter
Sammanfattning : A wave energy converter (WEC) of point absorber type has been developed and tests have been conducted outside Lysekil. The project started in 2002 and linear permanent magnet generators together with a subsea substation and buoys of various geometric shapes have been built and tested. LÄS MER
34. Performance Aspects in Millimeter-Wave Wireless Networks
Sammanfattning : The ever-growing data rate and comunications demand pose more challenges for the upcoming generations of mobile communications, i.e., fifth generation (5G) and beyond. To deal with these challenges, several solutions can be deployed, e. LÄS MER
35. Electrical System of a Wave Power Plant
Sammanfattning : Wave energy is a renewable energy source with a large potential to contribute to the world's electricity production. There exist several techniques to convert the energy in the ocean waves into electric energy. The wave energy converter presented in this thesis is based on a linear synchronous generator. LÄS MER
