16. FGF23 - a possible Phosphatonin
Sammanfattning : Human physiology is dependent on an accurate phosphate (Pi) homeostasis. Defective Pi regulation causes hyper- or hypophosphatemia, which are associated with ectopic calcification or impaired bone mineralization, and a shortened life span. Current endocrine models of Pi homeostasis are incomplete. LÄS MER

18. Cytochrome P450 enzymes in the biosynthesis and metabolism of bile acids and active forms of vitamin D
Sammanfattning : Cytochrome P450 enzymes catalyzing hydroxylations in the biosynthesis and metabolism of bile acids and active forms of vitamin D3 were studied.A microsomal cytochrome P450 enzyme with a molecular mass of 53 kDa, catalyzing the 6α-hydroxylation of taurochenodeoxycholic acid was purfied from pig liver microsomes and characterized with respect to catalytic and electrophoretic properties as well as polyclonal antibodies. 19. Fatigue and Peripheral Muscle Dysfunction: Studies on Vitamin D Status, Muscle Metabolism and Systemic Inflammation in Patients with COPD : Aspects of COPD severity beyond FEV1 and exacerbations
Sammanfattning : BackgroundThe severity of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is usually described in terms of forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and number of exacerbations. However, COPD is a complex disease with different ways of expression, involving pulmonary symptoms, extra pulmonal manifestations and comorbidities, which altogether affect the patient by contributing to reduced functional capacity, increased shortness of breath, reduced health-related quality of life and increased mortality. 20. Dietary intake, nutritional status and energy metabolism in adolescents with severe obesity - Effects of gastric bypass surgery
Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is an effective obesity treatment in adults and is becoming established in adolescents. Information is scarce on long-term changes in dietary intake, nutritional status and energy metabolism in adolescents undergoing gastric bypass. LÄS MER
