16. Carbon Nanotube Transistors: Nanotube Growth, Contact Properties and Novel Devices
Sammanfattning : Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are envisioned to be used as the basic building blocks in future electronics due to their excellent electronic properties such as high mobility, compatibility with high-k dielectrics and small diameters resulting in advantageous electrostatics. This thesis is divided into three separate topics related to increasing the fabrication yield and performance of CNT field effect transistors (CNTFETs). LÄS MER
17. Microstructure of Alumina (Al2O3) Grown by Oxidation of FeCrAl Alloys and by Chemical Vapour Deposition
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two parts: the detailed microstructure of (i) CVD alumina multilayer coatings, and (ii) alumina scales formed on three different FeCrAl alloys. The coatings and oxide scales were characterized by using analytical electron microscopy and different surface analysis techniques. LÄS MER
18. Electron transport properties of graphene and graphene field-effect devices studied experimentally
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains experimental studies on electronic transport properties of graphene with the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect, thermopower (TEP) measurements, dual-gated graphene field effect devices, and quantum Hall effect (QHE). Firstly, in an effort to enhance the AB effect in graphene, we place superconducting-metal (aluminium) or normal-metal (gold) mirrors on the graphene rings. LÄS MER
19. The Influence of Dopants on the Growth of Diamond by CVD
Sammanfattning : Diamond is an important material in many industrial applications (e.g., machining of hard materials, bio-electronics, optics, electronics, etc.) because of its exceptional properties such as hardness, tolerance to aggressive environments, compatibility with human tissues, and high carrier mobility. 20. Atomic Layer Deposition and Immobilised Molecular Catalysts Studied by In and Ex Situ Electron Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The research work that I describe in my thesis deals with three different heterogenisation approaches for synthesising a heterogeneous transition metal catalyst used for direct C-H activation reactions. The three heterogenisation approaches considered in my research are: (1) heterogenisation of a molecular catalyst on a polymer support using covalent bonds, (2) heterogenisation of a catalyst on a reduced graphene oxide (rGO) support using non-covalent interactions and (3) immobilisation of a catalyst on an inorganic surface using covalent bonds and encapsulation in an inorganic matrix.
