1. Aerodynamic Design and Installation Effects of Automotive Electric Cooling Fans
Sammanfattning : Electric cooling fans play a crucial role in automotive thermal management. They generate the airflow required for heat rejection from the expended coolant circulating within the heat exchanger. This thesis focuses on the aerodynamic design and installation effects of electric cooling fans or "E-fans". LÄS MER
2. Experimental Investigations of Heat Transfer in a Channel with Ribs and Obstacle
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents experimental investigations of local heat transfer in a rectangular channel (aspect ratio AR = 4) with continuous transverse ribs as well as an obstacle. Liquid crystal thermography (LCT) is employed to obtain the temperature fields in the heat transfer experiments. LÄS MER
3. Frazil ice at water intakes
Sammanfattning : To provide a better understanding of how frazil ice deposits on trash racks at water intakes, the phenomenon was video recorded at two hydropower plants and in a refrigerated laboratory flume. Initial accretion of frazil ice around a single bar and the motion of particles in the vicinity of an obstacle was simulated through numerical modelling and studied using plastic particles in a laboratory flume. 4. Numerical and Experimental study of shock boundary layer interaction in unsteady transonic flow
Sammanfattning : A prerequisite for aeroelastic stability prediction inturbomachines is the understanding of the fluctuatingaerodynamic forces acting on the blades. Unsteady transonicflows are complex because of mutual interactions betweentravelling pressure waves, outlet disturbances, shock motion, and fluctuating turbulent boundary layers. LÄS MER
5. Influence of fractures and air bubbles on the pressure distribution embankment dams
Sammanfattning : In some large embankment dams unexpected pore pressure distributions within the core have been observed. As an example, the piezometer pressures in WAC Bennett Dam, Canada, which rose for about four years after the reservoir was filled, were steady for two years and subsequently declined. LÄS MER
