  1. 6. Buildings as thermal energy storage – Pilot test and large-scale implementation for district heating systems

    Författare :Johan Kensby; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Space heating; Heat load; Heat demand; District heating; Thermal energy storage; Demand side management; Buildings;

    Sammanfattning : Heat loads in a district heating system can exhibit significant variations within a single day, which sets problematic conditions for efficient heat generation. Short-term thermal energy storage (TES) can decrease these daily variations and make the conditions for generating heat more favorable. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Applicability of thermal energy storage in future district heating system - Design methodologies and performance evaluations

    Författare :Yichi Zhang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; low-temperature district heating; demand-side management; low energy buildings; Thermal energy storage; district heating; variable renewable energy;

    Sammanfattning : District heating (DH) enables efficient and economical utilization of energy resources to satisfy the heat and hot water demands in buildings and is, thereby, well-established in Northern European countries. To achieve the future renewable energy system, the current DH systems are proved to undergo transitions towards the future DH systems, with major characteristics including renewable-based heat sources, low temperature networks, lower heating demands and smart controls. 3. 8. Smart Energy Grids – Utilization of Space Heating Flexibility

    Författare :Johan Kensby; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; demand side management; heat pump; thermal energy storage; exhaust air heat pump; thermal storage in buildings; heat price control; smart; District heating; heat source shifting; demand response;

    Sammanfattning : Buildings are the largest energy-using sector in the world. Since the generation of energy is highly associated with greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to climate change, there is a large focus on reducing energy use in buildings. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Supermarket refrigeration systems for demand response in smart grids

    Författare :Tommie Månsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Supermarket; Demand-side management; Smart-Grid; Energy efficiency; Food retail; Demandresponse; Thermal modelling; Refrigerated Display Cabinet; Renewable energy;

    Sammanfattning : With an increasing share of intermittent renewable energy sources in the electrical grid, the need for adapting the demand to the available supply of electricity becomes increasingly important. Within this thesis, the demand response capacity by supermarket refrigeration systems are investigated and methods for enabling it is developed. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Climate and Energy Use in Glazed Spaces

    Författare :Maria Wall; Institutioner vid LTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggnadsteknik; Building construction; design tool; field measurements; calculations; thermal comfort; cooling; heating; energy requirement; solar energy; climate; atrium buildings; glazed spaces;

    Sammanfattning : Glazed spaces ranging from small glazed verandas to large atrium buildings have become a common feature in architecture. A glazed space is greatly affected by aspects of the outside climate such as insolation and temperature. LÄS MER
