1. Renewable Heat on Demand : High-temperature thermal energy storage: a comprehensive study from material investigation to system analysis via innovative component design
Sammanfattning : High-temperature thermal energy storage could enable widespread exploitation of renewable energy sources, providing the required energy flexibility. Technology and component development is needed to enhance the storage thermo-dynamic performance, and identify key design features. LÄS MER
2. Smart Energy Grids – Utilization of Space Heating Flexibility
Sammanfattning : Buildings are the largest energy-using sector in the world. Since the generation of energy is highly associated with greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to climate change, there is a large focus on reducing energy use in buildings. LÄS MER
3. District heating in future Europe : Modelling expansion potentials and mapping heat synergy regions
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a set of methodologies and approaches to investigate and determine the extent by which district heating can contribute to improved energy system efficiency and reduced carbon dioxide emissions in future Europe. The main motivation for suggesting large-scale implementation of district heating as a structural energy efficiency measure to obtain these objectives originates essentially in the predicament that a majority of European buildings today remain highly dependent on fossil fuels to provide energy needed for space heating and hot water preparation. 4. Buildings as thermal energy storage – Pilot test and large-scale implementation for district heating systems
Sammanfattning : Heat loads in a district heating system can exhibit significant variations within a single day, which sets problematic conditions for efficient heat generation. Short-term thermal energy storage (TES) can decrease these daily variations and make the conditions for generating heat more favorable. LÄS MER
5. Performance of Compact Heat Exchanger in Non-Perpendicular Cooling Airflows
Sammanfattning : During recent years the main focus in the vehicle industry has been on cutting the fuel consumption and emissions as well as improving the vehicle performance. To be able to meet these demands additional systems are being introduced into the vehicle. LÄS MER
