  1. 11. Monitoring climate and plant physiology using deuterium isotopomers of carbohydrates

    Författare :Angela Augusti; Jürgen Schleucher; Vaughan Hurry; Howard Griffiths; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate reconstruction; deuterium; elevated CO2; isotopomer; nuclear magnetic resonance; photorespiration; tree-ring cellulose.; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Climate is changing and it is certain that this change is due to human activities. Atmospheric greenhouse gases have been rising in an unprecedented way during the last two centuries, although the land biosphere has dampened their increase by absorbing CO2 emitted by anthropogenic activities. 2. 12. The Role of Proline Catabolism in Candida albicans Pathogenesis

    Författare :Fitz Gerald S. Silao; Per O. Ljungdahl; Joachim Morschhäuser; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Candida albicans; proline metabolism; ATP; P5C; virulence; macrophage; hyphae; filamentation; Ras1 cAMP PKA; mitochondria; Proline dehydrogenase; P5C dehydrogenase; reactive oxygen species; Proline-P5C cycle; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Candida albicans is an opportunistic fungal pathogen that has evolved in close association with human hosts. Pathogenicity is linked to an array of virulence characteristics expressed in response to environmental cues and that reflect the requirement to take up and metabolize nutrients available in the host. 3. 13. Fundamentals and applications of microplasma sources : Actuating, Sensing, and Nonlinearly Approximating

    Författare :Ragnar Seton; Anders Persson; Donatella Puglisi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stripline Split-ring Resonator; Microplasma; Optical Emission Spectroscopy; Medical Technology; Transcutaneous Blood Gas Monitoring; Small Satellites; Microthruster; Cold Gas Thruster; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis covers a wide range of applications for, and integrations of, a stripline split-ring resonator (SSRR) microplasma source. Common throughout the presented works is the always present, but sometimes secondary, focus on analyzing the light and matter that is emitted as gas is flowed through theplasma of the SSRR. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Diving Deep into Saturn's Equatorial Ionosphere with Cassini : Insights from the Grand Finale

    Författare :Joshua Dreyer; Erik Vigren; Michiko Morooka; Jan-Erik Wahlund; Ingo Müller-Wodarg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Saturn; Cassini; Grand Finale; Ionosphere; Photochemistry; Planetary Rings; Planetary Science; Space Plasma; Space Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot rymd- och plasmafysik; Physics with specialization in Space and Plasma Physics;

    Sammanfattning : In the summer of 2017, the Cassini mission concluded its nearly 13 years orbiting Saturn with a series of daring dives between the rings and the upper reaches of Saturn's atmosphere. This last phase of the mission, called the Grand Finale, revealed a highly variable equatorial ionosphere dominated by a large influx of ring material from Saturn's D ring. LÄS MER

  5. 15. SARs for the Antiparasitic Plant metabolite Pulchrol

    Författare :Paola Terrazas Villarroel; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pulchrol; pulchral; SARs; antiparasitic; Leishmania braziliensis; Leishmania amazonensis; Trypanozoma cruzi; Bourreria pulchra; Leishmaniasis; Chagas disease; Synthesis; Pharmacophore; ADMET;

    Sammanfattning : Pulchrol, a natural compound isolated from the roots of the vegetal specie Bourreria pulchra has been shown to possess potential antiparasitic activity toward Trypanosomatids, particularly against Trypanosoma cruzi, which causes the Chagas disease; and moderately against Leishmania species, responsible for Leishmaniasis. In this investigation, several pulchrol analogues were prepared and assayed toward T. LÄS MER
