  1. 6. Gut peptides in gastrointestinal motility and mucosal permeability

    Författare :Md. Abdul Halim; Webb Dominic-Luc; Per M Hellström; Lars Fändriks; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Gut regulatory peptides; Neuropeptides; Gastrointestinal mucosal permeability; Gastrointestinal motility; GLP-1; NPS; ROSE-010;

    Sammanfattning : Gut regulatory peptides, such as neuropeptides and incretins, play important roles in hunger, satiety and gastrointestinal motility, and possibly mucosal permeability. Many peptides secreted by myenteric nerves that regulate motor control are also produced in mucosal epithelial cells. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Role of MAIT cells in human antimicrobial immunity

    Författare :Joana Dias; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mucosa-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells are a relatively recently discovered subset of unconventional T cells. In humans, MAIT cells are predominantly CD8+CD4- (CD8+) with a smaller CD8-CD4- (double-negative, DN) subset, and they are abundant in the peripheral blood, liver, and mucosal tissues. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Invariant T cell subsets in immune defense of oral mucosa and skin

    Författare :Michał J Sobkowiak; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Innate-like T lymphocytes such as mucosa-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells and invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells recognize antigens presented by MR1 and CD1d molecules, respectively. As MR1 presents microbial riboflavin metabolite antigens, and CD1d presents endogenous or microbial glycolipid antigens, MAIT cells and iNKT cells survey the non-protein fraction of the potential antigenic universe. 4. 9. Structural Studies of Microbial Proteins - From Escherichia coli and Herpesviruses

    Författare :Daniel Gurmu; Heidi Erlandsen; Pär Nordlund; Arne O. Smalås; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CaiB; RibD; YhaK; SOX; ORF60; Herpesvirus; E. coli; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Structure biology concerns the study of the molecular structures of biological macromolecules, such as proteins, and how these relate to the function. Protein structures are also of importance in structure-based drug design. In this thesis, the work has been carried out in two different projects. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Association between diet and treatment results in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus

    Författare :Cecilia Lourdudoss; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are chronic autoimmune inflammatory diseases. The causes of these diseases are unknown and evidence indicates that a combination of both genetic and environmental factors contribute to their etiology. Several studies have reported dietary benefits for patients with RA as well as SLE. LÄS MER
