  1. 6. Role of membrane associated molecules in liver fibrosis

    Författare :Peter Rosenberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adhesion molecules; liver fibrosis; cholestasis; R-cadherin; N-CAM; EBP50; CFTR; cystic fibrosis; methotrexate; diabetes; over-weight; alcohol;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the study was to evaluate the role of membrane associated proteins in tissue formation and remodeling, in normal embryogenesis and in liver disease. Molecules associated with cellular membranes provide a fundamental basis for cellular interactions during development, homeostasis and disease. LÄS MER

  2. 7. The chimeric SCID mouse in studies of the human immune system

    Författare :Mohammad Reza Abedi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Several methods have been developed to transfer components of the human immune system into mice. In particular, the adoptive transfer of human Iymphoid cells or tissues into mice with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID mice) has demonstrated the general applicability of such an approach. 3. 8. Magnetic resonance imaging for the assessment of liver function

    Författare :Henrik Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DHCE-MRI;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents dynamic hepatocyte-specific contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DHCE-MRI) as a new method for total and segmental liver function assessment. The method is based on the hepatocyte-specific properties of Gd- EOB-DTPA, which is actively taken up into functioning hepatocytes. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Novel diagnostic methods for rapid characterization of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase- and carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae

    Författare :Muhammad Humaun Kabir; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli are two of the most clinically important pathogens of the family Enterobacteriaceae. Both can cause severe infections includ-ing urinary tract infections (UTI), bloodstream infections (BSI) and pneumonia. Both are also involved in dissemination of antibiotic resistance. LÄS MER
