  1. 1. Dendrimers and dendronized polymers : synthesis and characterization

    Författare :Andreas Nyström; Anders Hult; A. Dieter Schlüter; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dendrimers; dendronized polymers; atom transfer radical polymerisation; ring-opening metathesis polymerization; reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization; 2; 2-bis methylol propionic acid; tri-block copolymers; rheology; differential scanning calorimerty; 1H-NMR self-diffusion; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this work was to synthesize complex macromolecular architectures such as dendrimers and dendronized polymers, and evaluate the effect from the dendrons on the optical and material properties. The work presented in this doctoral thesis, Dendrimers and Dendronized Polymers - Synthesis and Characterization, is divided into one minor and one major part. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Phase Equilibria and Structures of Oppositely Charged Polymers and Surfactants in Water

    Författare :Anna Svensson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self diffusion; PFG NMR; hexagonal; cubic Pm3n; liquid crystals; SAXS; polymer; counterion; complex; polyelectrolyte; surfactant; Monte Carlo simulations; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : A new approach to the study of aqueous mixtures of oppositely charged polymers and surfactants has been introduced. Pure polyion-surfactant ion complex salts have been synthesized and used as the point of departure. The elimination of the simple ions reduces the number of components in the mixtures, thus greatly simplifying the system. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Controlling Structure and Water Miscibility of Polyion - Surfactant Ion Complex Salts

    Författare :Jens Norrman; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; phase diagram; cubic Pm3n; hexagonal; lamellar; self diffusion; PFG NMR; SAXS; liquid crystals; polymer; counterion; complex; polyelectrolyte; surfactant;

    Sammanfattning : The interaction between poylions and oppositely charged surfactant ions has been investigated. This has been done by using the pure complex salt (polyion + surfactant ion) as a point of departure. Different parameters of the complex salt have been varied in a systematic way and the effect on structure and water miscibility has been investigated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Association Phenomena in Aqueous Solutions of Surfactants and Hydrophobically Modified Polymers

    Författare :Susanne Nilsson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self-diffusion; rheology; cellulose ethers; associating polymers; polymer-surfactant interactions; polymer network; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Interactions between ionic surfactants (sodium dodecyl sulfate and dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride) and nonionic polymers ((hydroxyethyl)cellulose, ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose and their hydrophobically modified analogous) have been studied by means of rheology, pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG NMR), time-resolved fluorescence quenching (TRFQ), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). In all experiments surfactants have been added in various amounts to polymer solutions at fixed concentrations. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Associative Multicomponent Polymers in Bulk and at Interfaces

    Författare :Fredrik Joabsson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymer adsorption; polymer self-diffusion; polymer-surfactant interactions; phase behaviour; ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose; hydrophobically modified polymers; capillary-induced phase separation; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The solution and interfacial properties of an associative water-soluble cellulose derivative, ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose (EHEC) have been investigated. Main themes have been to study the effect of hydrophobic modification of the polymer (HM-EHEC) and the interactions with surfactants, both in bulk and at interfaces. LÄS MER
