6. Non-coding RNAs and Extracellular Vesicles in Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Sammanfattning : Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) ranks among the most widespread malignancies with metastatic potential. Investigating the molecular mechanism of tumorigenesis will enhance our understanding of cSCC. Aberrant expression of non-coding RNAs has been extensively reported in human cancers. LÄS MER
7. Qualities in the short life : psychological studies relevant to patient and spouse in malignant glioma
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with psychological issues concerning patients with malignant gliomas, and their spouses. There is no known medical cure, and the patients have a limited survival expectancy. Therefore studies evaluating new treatment modes, an overall supportive atmosphere, and attempts to avoid imposing unnessesary strain are necessary. LÄS MER
8. Stem Cell Factor Induced Signal Transduction
Sammanfattning : Stem Cell Factor (SCF) can function as a survival factor, a mitogen or a chemoattractant depending on cell type. Binding of SCF to c-Kit induces dimerization and subsequent autophosphorylation of the receptor. This thesis describes the intracellular signal transduction elicited by c-Kit. LÄS MER
9. Role of FLT3 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia: Molecular mechanisms and Therapeutic opportunities
Sammanfattning : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a highly heterogeneous blood disease which is characterized by different mutations and chromosomal rearrangements. Nearly 60% of genetic alterations have been found in AML patients involve in signaling pathways including signaling of tyrosine kinase receptor FLT3. LÄS MER
10. Penile carcinoma : from first symptom to sexual function and life satisfaction following organ-sparing laser treatment
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe how patients with penile carcinoma experienced their symptoms, treatment seeking and the impact of the diagnosis and treatment on sexual function, sexual activity and life satisfaction. The thesis contains two studies of patients treated with organ-sparing laser therapy, a retrospective study (Papers II and III) of 46 patients treated between 1986-2000 and a prospective study (Papers I and IV) of 50 patients between 2005 and 2009 and additional 34 partners.
