6. Latest Miocene – Early Pliocene Paleoclimate and Phytoplankton Productivity
Sammanfattning : Paper IPre-Quaternary paleoclimate studies in Australia mainly focus on terrestrial records from the southeastern part of the continent. IODP Expedition 356 drilled on the northwestern Australian shelf, yielding Miocene-Pleistocene paleoclimate records in an area where climate archives are scarce. LÄS MER
7. The Greenhouse - Icehouse Transition : a dinoflagellate perspective
Sammanfattning : Through the analysis of the stratigraphic and spatial distribution of organic walled dinoflagellate cysts (dinocysts) from climatologically and oceanographically key sites, this project aims to contribute to a better understanding of the Eocene-Oligocene (E/O) environmental changes and their timing. A central issue is to identify the global environmental changes which are responsible for the Eocene cooling and its underlying mechanisms with the focus on the Oligocene isotope-1 (Oi-1) event, thought to mark the onset of major Antarctic glaciation. 8. Representation and diurnal variation of upper tropospheric humidity in observations and models
Sammanfattning : The role of water vapour is manifold in its climate regulation of the Earth system. Most important of all despite its low concentration, is the role it plays in the upper troposphere. LÄS MER
9. Modelling the early to mid-Holocene Arctic climate
Sammanfattning : In the recent past it has become evident that the Earth's climate is changing, and that human activity play a significant role in these changes. One of the regions where the ongoing climate change has been most evident is in the Arctic: the surface temperature has increased twice as much in this region as compared to the global average, in addition, a significant decline in the Arctic sea-ice extent has been observed in the past decades.
