  1. 1. Latest Miocene – Early Pliocene Paleoclimate and Phytoplankton Productivity

    Författare :Boris-Theofanis Karatsolis; Jorijntje Henderiks; Luc Beaufort; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Late Miocene; early Pliocene; IODP; paleoclimate; basin evolution; phytoplankton; paleoproductivity; Milankovitch cycles; Earth Science with specialization in Historical Geology and Palaeontology; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot historisk geologi och paleontologi;

    Sammanfattning : Paper IPre-Quaternary paleoclimate studies in Australia mainly focus on terrestrial records from the southeastern part of the continent. IODP Expedition 356 drilled on the northwestern Australian shelf, yielding Miocene-Pleistocene paleoclimate records in an area where climate archives are scarce. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Late Miocene to Pliocene orbital and climatic forcing on marine productivity

    Författare :Boris-Theofanis Karatsolis; Jorijntje Henderiks; Thomas Stevens; David De Vleeschouwer; Clara T. Bolton; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The late Miocene to Pliocene was a geological time interval of global cooling, albeit in a warmer-than-present world, which is commonly used as a past analogue for future anthropogenic climate change. The investigation of marine sediments recovered by the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) sheds light on different paleoclimatic, paleoceanographic and paleobiological characteristics of this period. 3. 3. Magma generation and formation of continental crust in the Izu arc

    Författare :Haochen Duan; Abigail Barker; Jaroslaw Majka; Stefan Wastegård; Kate Saunders; Susanne M. Straub; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oceanic arc; Izu rear-arc; Melt inlcusions; Oxygen isotopes; Boron isotopes; Continental crust; Mantle hererogeneity; In-situ microanalysis; IMS-1280; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : The Izu oceanic arc is produced by the subduction of the Pacific Sea Plate beneath the Philippine Sea Plate. The proto-Izu oceanic arc was initially formed at ca. 50 Ma, then it was separated into the Kyushu-Palau and Izu arc by the extension of the Shikoku basin from ca. 25 Ma. LÄS MER
