  1. 6. Whiteness and Fluorescence in Paper : Perception and Optical Modelling

    Författare :Ludovic Gustafsson Coppel; Per Edström; Håkan Olin; Caisa Johansson; Markku Hauta-Kasari; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paper Whiteness; Fluorescence Whitening Agents; Kubelka-Munk; light scattering; paper industry applications; Colour Appearance Models; CIECAM02; Monte Carlo; Optics; Optik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about modelling and predicting the perceived whiteness of plain paper from the paper composition, including fluorescent whitening agents. This includes psycho-physical modelling of perceived whiteness from measurable light reflectance properties, and physical modelling of light scattering and fluorescence from the paper composition. 2. 7. Advancing Upconversion Emissions for Biomedical Imaging

    Författare :Haichun Liu; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; upconverting nanoparticles; luminescence; fluorescence; inverse problem; biomedical optics; biomedical imaging; photon migration; upconversion; tomography; saturation; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Liu;

    Sammanfattning : During the past decade, upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) doped with rare earth ions have become an important class of fluorescence contrast agents for molecular imaging, due to their unique properties. Their property of anti-Stokes luminescence, with both the excitation and emission wavelengths close to the optimal for biomedical imaging, has been extensively explored in various biomedical applications. 3. 8. Laser-based absorption spectrometry : development of NICE-OHMS towards ultra-sensitive trace species detection

    Författare :Florian Schmidt; Ove Axner; Livio Gianfrani; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; absorption spectrometry; trace species detection; fiber laser; modulation; cavity-enhanced spectroscopy; optical saturation; laser frequency stabilization; free-spectral-range; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Laser-based absorption spectroscopy (AS) is a powerful technique for qualitative and quantitative studies of atoms and molecules. An important field of use of AS is the detection of species in trace concentrations, which has applications not only in physics and chemistry but also in biology and medicine, encompassing environmental monitoring, regulation of industrial processes and breath analysis. 4. 9. Optical Absorption and Electrical Conductivity in Lithium Intercalated Amorphous Tungsten Oxide Films

    Författare :Lars Berggren; Gunnar A. Niklasson; Ola Hunderi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Technology; Lithium intercalation; amorphous; tungsten-oxide; sputtered films; optical absorption; polaron radius.; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Optical and electrical properties of electrochemically lithium ion intercalated thin films of x-ray amorphous tungsten oxide made by magnetron sputtering on glass substrates coated with a thin layer of conductive tin doped indium oxide, have been studied. The composition and the density of the films were characterized by the ion beam analysis methods Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy and Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Multispectral imaging of hemoglobin oxygen saturation in skin microcirculation

    Författare :Maria Ewerlöf; Göran Salerud; Tomas Strömberg; Marcus Larsson; Maurice C. G. Aalders; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multispectral imaging; hemoglobin oxygen saturation; microcirculation;

    Sammanfattning : The ability to measure microcirculatory parameters such as hemoglobin oxygen saturation is important since it mirrors the microcirculatory state of the body. The microcirculation delivers oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the body and, if impaired, may be a sign of circulatory failure. LÄS MER
