1. Laser-based absorption spectrometry : development of NICE-OHMS towards ultra-sensitive trace species detection
Sammanfattning : Laser-based absorption spectroscopy (AS) is a powerful technique for qualitative and quantitative studies of atoms and molecules. An important field of use of AS is the detection of species in trace concentrations, which has applications not only in physics and chemistry but also in biology and medicine, encompassing environmental monitoring, regulation of industrial processes and breath analysis. 2. Real-time breath gas analysis of carbon monoxide : laser-based detection and pulmonary gas exchange modeling
Sammanfattning : Breath gas analysis is a promising approach for non-invasive medical diagnostics and physiological monitoring. Real-time, breath-cycle resolved biomarker detection facilitates data interpretation and has the potential to improve the diagnostic value of breath tests as exhalation profiles carry spatiotemporal information about biomarker origin and gas exchange in the respiratory tract. 3. Fast devolatilization of biomass : An experimental study using high-speed imaging, relevant for suspension firing technologies
Sammanfattning : We have performed experiments using imaging techniques in a flame-assisted, drop-tube reactor with optical access, to extract information relevant to the improvement of multi-particle devolatilization models. These models could be of interest for different suspension firing techniques, such as entrained flow biomass gasification, (EFBG) and oxyfuel combustion. LÄS MER
4. Quantitative laser diagnostics of gas-phase potassium species in biomass combustion and gasification
Sammanfattning : Thermochemical energy conversion processes, such as combustion and gasification, are applied worldwide for generation of electricity, heat and synthesis of chemicals. Today, these processes are mostly run on non-renewable, fossil fuels and constitute a major source of carbon dioxide emissions. LÄS MER
