6. A Level-set Flamelet Library Model for Premixed Turbulent Combustion
Sammanfattning : The modelling of premixed turbulent combustion has been studied. Premixed turbulent combustion occurs in a range of applications, such as gas turbines and spark-ignition engines. LÄS MER
7. Large eddy simulation of combustion using linear-eddy subgrid modeling
Sammanfattning : As emissions regulations are getting stricter and efficiency requirements of internal combustion engines (ICE) are increasing, different concepts to improve combustion are being investigated. For example lean stratified premixed combustion, homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI), use of more exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) to reduce NOx etc. LÄS MER
8. Large eddy simulation of dual-fuel combustion under ICE conditions
Sammanfattning : The present thesis aims at studying n-heptane/methanol dual-fuel combustion under internal combustion engine conditions and strives to improve the understanding of its ignition, combustion, and pollutant emission mechanisms. Large-eddy simulation (LES) coupled with Eulerian stochastic fields (ESF) approach is employed to simulate single/dual-fuel combustion in a constant-volume vessel to mimic the single/dual-fuel combustion in conventional/dual-fuel premixed engines. 9. A representative interactive linear-eddy-model (RILEM) for simulating spray combustion
Sammanfattning : Engine development aims at reducing pollutant emissions (e.g. NOx , soot,UHC) while maintaining high efficiencies. Detailed experimental resultsin combination with precise numerical predictions are of great importancein order to develop combustion systems for new clean and efficient inter-nal combustion engines. 10. Challenges and Advantages of Stratified Combustion in Gasoline Direct-Injected Engines
Sammanfattning : The modern world is based on an extensive transport network in which passenger vehicles play a major role. Although passenger vehicles have improved significantly in recent decades, they still contribute to the pollution of our environment and global warming. Consequently, new ways of reducing their emissions are needed. LÄS MER
