  1. 1. Challenges and Advantages of Stratified Combustion in Gasoline Direct-Injected Engines

    Författare :Anders Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Particulate Mass; SGDI; Particulate Number; Direct-Injected; GDI; Particulate Sampling; Spray-Guided; Particulates; Stratified Charge; Gasoline; DI;

    Sammanfattning : The modern world is based on an extensive transport network in which passenger vehicles play a major role. Although passenger vehicles have improved significantly in recent decades, they still contribute to the pollution of our environment and global warming. Consequently, new ways of reducing their emissions are needed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On the Use of Laser-Induced Incandescence for Soot Diagnostics: From Theoretical Aspects to Applications in Engines

    Sammanfattning : The laser-induced incandescence technique (LII) is a laser-based diagnostic technique for measurements of soot volume fraction and particle size. The technique relies on detection of incandescent light from soot particles heated to around 4000 K using nanosecond laser pulses. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Investigating Effects of Water Injection on SI Engines

    Författare :Jayesh Khatri; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Knock Mitigation; Downsized SI engine; RON; Water Injection; Particulates; Relative Humidity;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, there has been a major shift towards the partial or complete electrification of vehicles that have traditionally been powered by conventional internal combustion (IC) engines; almost all major automotive manufacturers have rightly stated that they will make such a shift. This has been motivated in large part by pressure from governments and policymakers to minimize vehicular emissions, especially those of the greenhouse gas CO2, in order to control climate change. 4. 4. MEASUREMENT OF PARTICULATES EMITTED FROM SGDI ENGINES

    Författare :Anders Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses particulate emissions from spray guided, gasoline, direct-injected (GDI) engines. The aim was to measure solid particulates without the influence of volatiles. Therefore, two sampling systems were developed for sampling either low or high particulate content. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Effects of nitrogen dioxide on airway responsiveness in allergic asthma

    Författare :Victoria Strand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :air pollution; nitrogen dioxide; asthma; allergy; airway responsiveness; pulmonary function; eosinophils; particulates; repeated exposure;

    Sammanfattning : Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases in the industrialized world and its prevalence is increasing. Clinical symptoms of airway obstruction and bronchial hyper responsiveness can be induced by specific agents, such as allergens and non-specific stimuli, such as cold air and irritants. LÄS MER
