  1. 11. Transducer properties of a mechanoreceptor : an electrophysiological and pharmacological study of the crayfish stretch receptor

    Författare :Jiahui Lin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :stretch receptor; Na channels; K channels; local anesthetics; calmodulin antagonist; patch clamp; voltage clamp;

    Sammanfattning : The abdominal stretch receptor organ of the crayfish, an analog to the human muscle spindle, contains one slowly adapting (SA) and one rapidly adapting (RA) receptor neuron. The general aims of this project were to elucidate, in the SA and RA neurons, the participation of voltagegated Na+ and K+ channels in overall transducer process and adaptation, and to study possible blocking agents specific to mechanosensitive (MS) channels. 2. 12. Assessment of microvascular function by use of transdermal iontophoresis : methodological aspects

    Författare :Erik Droog Tesselaar; Folke Sjöberg; Angela Shore; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Iontophoresis; Microcirculation; Laser-Doppler; Acetylcholine; Sodium nitroprusside; Pharmacodynamics; Pharmacokinetics skin; Physiology and pharmacology; Fysiologi och farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : Assessment of the microcirculation is of major importance in understanding the physiology of the vasculature and in assessing te vascular effects of pathological conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and sepsis. Transdermal iontophoresis can be used to non‐invasively introduce vasoactive drugs into the skin. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Surgical Stress in Rats : The Impact of Buprenorphine on Postoperative Recovery

    Författare :Renée Sundbom; Klas Abelson; Kristina Dahlborn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgical stress; Corticosterone; Buprenorphine; Analgesia; Rats.; Försöksdjursvetenskap - Jämförande medicin; Comparative Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : During surgery, both anesthesia and tissue damage cause physiological stress responses in the body. The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is activated with increased levels of glucocorticoids. LÄS MER

  4. 14. The efficacy of continuous peripheral blocks after cardiothoracic surgery as evaluated by opioid use, pain, and recovery

    Författare :Mark Larsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Pain after cardiothoracic surgery is most intense the first postoperative days and for the most part mild to moderate. International guidelines recommend a multimodal analgesic strategy that includes local anesthetics for peripheral nerve blocks or local wound infiltration. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Microcirculation in skeletal muscle during hypoperfusion : An experimental study regarding some psysiological and pharmacological factors influencing blood flow and oxygen pressure distributions

    Författare :Urban Gustafsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The vascular bed in skeletal muscle plays an important role in the regulation of the systemic circulation. The present study was undertaken to investigate how capillary blood flow and oxygenation in skeletal muscle are affected by: a) a reduction in the levels of respiratory gases in blood, hypocapnia or hypoxia, and b) the interaction of anesthetics (pentobarbital, propofol, ketamine) during hemorrhage, and c) hypotension induced pharmacologically by adenosine, sodium nitroprusside or acetylcholine.
