26. Selective Catalytic Reduction of NOx: Deactivation and Regeneration Studies and Kinetic Modelling of Deactivation
Sammanfattning : Selective catalytic reduction of NOx (SCR) has been recognised as an effective post-combustion method for reducing nitrogen oxides from stationary sources. The cost of replacing the catalyst is a major part of the maintenance of the SCR system, hence it is desirable to advance methods to prolong the catalyst life. LÄS MER
27. Thermophysical Modelling and Mechanical Stability of Cometary Nuclei
Sammanfattning : Comets are the most primordial and least evolved bodies in the Solar System. As such, they are unique sources of information regarding the early history of the Solar System. However, little is known about cometary nuclei since they are very difficult to observe due to the obscuring coma. LÄS MER
28. Modelling of Kraft Cooking Kinetics Using Near Infrared Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : A kinetic model describing the kraft cooking degradation reactions for softwood lignin and carbohydrates was developed in this thesis. The model satisfactorily predicted the data for modified as well as conventional cooking schemes, something which eluded earlier published models. LÄS MER
29. Modelling Approaches to Molecular Systems Biology
Sammanfattning : Implementation and analysis of mathematical models can serve as a powerful tool in understanding how intracellular processes in bacteria affect the bacterial phenotype. In this thesis I have implemented and analysed models of a number of different parts of the bacterium E. coli in order to understand these types of connections. LÄS MER
30. Mathematical aspects of apolipoprotein kinetics, with focus on metabolic diseases
Sammanfattning : Biomathematics is a branch of science that aims at describing biological processes in mathematical terms to frame and solve otherwise unsolvable research questions in the biological and medical field. Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death in the world. LÄS MER
