11. Aspects of aqueous humor dynamics : Studies in vivo and in vitro
Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present investigation was to study the effects of PGF2α-l-isopropylester, some neuropeptides, and pharmacological agents on aqueous humor dynamics and intraocular pressure (IOP) in vivo and on adenylate cyclase activity in the nonpigmented ciliary epithelium (NPE) in vitro.Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) caused a dose-dependent increase in cAMP formation, indicating that the NPE contains receptors for PACAP and VIP coupled to adenylate cyclase activation. 12. Malpositioned and dislocated intraocular lenses : management, complications and surgical repositioning
Sammanfattning : Cataract surgery (exchange of the non-transparent crystalline lens with an IOL) is the most frequent surgery in Sweden, accounting for more than 130000 surgeries per year. Therefore, complications associated with cataract surgery affect a significant number of patients. LÄS MER
13. Glaucoma Characteristics and Risk Factors - Results from Malmö Eye Survey
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on data from a large glaucoma screening, comprising 32, 918 elderly citizens of Malmö and data from retrospective analysis of glaucoma patients’ charts from the Eye Department of Malmö University Hospital. The definition of glaucoma was based on reproducible visual field defects and/or glaucomatous optic nerve head damage in both groups. LÄS MER
14. On Complications to Cataract Surgery
Sammanfattning : Cataract surgery, meaning exchange of the opaque lens in the eye with an artificial lens, is nowadays one of the most successful surgical procedures ever known. It is also the most frequent surgery performed in the Western world. In Sweden alone, more than 100,000 cataract operations are performed annually. LÄS MER
15. Long-term results of phakic refractive lenses (PRL) for correction of myopia and hyperopia
Sammanfattning : The phakic refractive lens (PRL) is a silicone lens implanted into the posterior chamber to correct myopia and hyperopia. At the beginning of 2002, when the PRL was introduced at St. LÄS MER
