16. Regulation of T cell effector functions in the intestinal mucosa
Sammanfattning : T lymphocytes are a critical cellular component of the adaptive immune response. They are generated in the thymus from bone marrow derived progenitors, where they undergo commitment to the T cell lineage and differentiate and mature into naïve CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. LÄS MER
17. Understanding normal-tissue late effects in the intestines after pelvic radiotherapy
Sammanfattning : Radiotherapy cures patients from deadly cancer, alone or in combination with other treatments. The photons must pass through normal tissue to converge on the tumor, and it is unavoidable that radiotherapy causes acute as well as late adverse effects. LÄS MER
18. Graft-versus-Host Disease: Eosinophils, Chimerism and Clinical Features in Patients Undergoing Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell or Multivisceral Transplantation
Sammanfattning : Abstract Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a potentially severe complication that may develop after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). It can also occur after transplantation with isolated intestinal grafts or after multivisceral transplantation (MVTX). GVHD is difficult to diagnose. LÄS MER
19. Studies of epigenetic deregulation in parathyroid tumors and small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors
Sammanfattning : Deregulation of the epigenome is associated with the initiation and progression of various types of human cancers. Here we investigated the level of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC), expression and function of TET1 and TET2, and DNA methylation in parathyroid tumors and small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs). 20. No guts, no glory : EphB mediated signaling in intestinal stem and progenitor cells
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis is focused on the intestinal stem cell niche, the crypts, and the Eph tyrosine kinase receptors together with their ligands that are expressed by the crypt epithelial progenitor cells. Two fundamental cellular processes, high turnover coupled to a rapid ordered migration of the newborn cells out from the crypt, characterize the normal intestine. LÄS MER
