11. Ultrathin Oxides in Metal-Oxide-Silicon Structures: Defects and Characterization
Sammanfattning : The properties of metal-oxide-silicon (MOS) structures with ultrathin oxide layers (15-30 Å) have been investigated by means of electrical characterization. The characterization methods used were mainly capacitance voltage (C-V), current voltage (I-V) and constant voltage stress (I-t) measurements. LÄS MER
12. Enhanced Polarizing Neutron Optics with 11B4C Incorporation : SLD Tunability, Interface Refinement, and Elimination of Magnetic Coercivity
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores novel strategies for improving Fe-based polarizing neutron optics, a critical part for improving neutron scattering methods to study materials science, physics, biology, medicine, chemistry and cultural heritage. Polarization analysis is important in uncovering data on magnetic domains, protein structures, molecular composition and orientation in biological systems, and ion-diffusion mechanisms that would otherwise be inaccessible. 13. Matrix and interface effects on microcracking in polymer composites
Sammanfattning : An underlying industrial problem for the present work is leakage of pressure vessels. Fluid leakage was confirmed to take place along a path of connected microcracks and delaminations. The thesis is concerned with the micromechanisms for microcracking studied by in-situ optical microscopy of cross-ply laminates. LÄS MER
14. Electrical Characterization of III-V Nanostructure
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the electronic properties of a number of novel III-V materials and material combinations for transistor applications. In particular, high-κ/InAs metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) structures and transport properties of GaSb nanowires have been studied. LÄS MER
15. Image dipoles and polarons in organic semiconductors
Sammanfattning : The rapid development of organic electronics depends on the synthesis of new π-conjugated molecules/polymers and the exploration of fundamental physics. However, most of the efforts have been concentrated on the former, leading to a lack of thorough understanding of many important concepts, which will become the ultimate limiting factor for overall performance and applications.
