6. Heavy Vehicle Crash Safety - Improved Thoracic Injury Prediction in Frontal Crash Testing
Sammanfattning : Frontal crashes are regarded as some of the most injurious accidents for Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) drivers. One of the leading HGV manufacturers regularly conducts frontal crash testing for occupant safety. The Hybrid III crash test dummy was developed for frontal testing in passenger cars and has become the standard in crash laboratories. LÄS MER
7. Reanalysis of primate head impact experiments to clarify mild traumatic brain injury kinematics and thresholds
Sammanfattning : Fatalities and severe injuries due to road traffic accidents still represent a serious health and economic issue intoday’s society. Brain injuries are the most common severe injuries and these injuries account for more than half ofthe 1.3 million traffic related deaths annually worldwide. LÄS MER
8. Brain injury biomechanics in closed-head impact : studies on injury epidemiology, tolerance criteria, biomechanics and traffic injury prevention
Sammanfattning : Permanent disability from traumatic brain injury is a devastating consequence of traffic crashes. Injury prevention is a fruitful approach to reduce the incidence and severity of disabling brain injury. LÄS MER
9. Investigation of Head Injuries in Car-to-Child Pedestrian Accidents
Sammanfattning : Head injury is the most common injury type in child pedestrian accidents andcould lead to lifelong disability or even death. To protect child pedestrianfrom head injury, it is important to understand the head injury mechanismsand tolerance levels. LÄS MER
10. Static and Dynamic Load Response of the Lumbar Spine in Flexion
Sammanfattning : The aims of this study were to develop experimental methods for static and dynamic loading of spinal segments in vitro that would simulate flexion-distraction injuries (lap seat-belt injuries) and increase knowledge about the biomechanical response and the mechanisms of injury of the lumbar spine under static and dynamic (transient) loads in flexion. The experiments were carried out on the lumbar functional spinal unit (FSU) consisting of two adjacent vertebrae, the intervertebral disc and all intervening ligaments. LÄS MER
