  1. 1. Pain and sensory function in HIV-infection : with and without antiretroviral therapy

    Författare :Claes Martin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Pain is a common symptom throughout the course of HIV-1 infection, with a prevalence ranging between 30-80%, varying with study methodology and patient selection. Neurogenic pain may appear as a consequence of distal predominantly sensory neuropathy (DSP), a common HIV-1 related neurological complication of late HIV-1 infection, usually during the AIDS-stage of the disease. 2. 2. Analysis of the interaction between HIV-1 protease and inhibitors : Applications for drug discovery

    Författare :Per-Olof Markgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this study were to identify and characterize inhibitors of HIV-l protease aspotential leads in a drug discovery process, and to develop improved methods for suchcharacterization. More than 300 inhibitors, including linear and cyclic peptidomimetictransition state analogs and Cu2+, were analyzed. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development of HIV-1 Protease Inhibitors and Palladium-Catalyzed Synthesis of Aryl Ketones and N-Allylbenzamides

    Författare :Linda Axelsson; Mats Larhed; Anders Karlén; Luke Odell; Morten Grötli; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palladium; aminocarbonylation; aryl ketones; decarboxylation; HIV; protease inhibitor; tertiary alcohol; macrocycles; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi;

    Sammanfattning : The use of palladium-catalyzed reactions to introduce new carbon-carbon bonds is a fundamental synthetic strategy that has been widely embraced due to its high chemo- and regioselectivity and functional group tolerance. In this context, Pd(0)-catalyzed aminocarbonylations using Mo(CO)6 instead of toxic and gaseous CO and with allylamine as the nucleophile were investigated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. In vivo and in vitro models for determination of antiviral activity and resistance

    Författare :Ewa Ljungdahl Ståhle; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The AIDS epidemic has been the driving force for the discovery of substances that inhibit the replication of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Much interest has earlier focused on a single gene product central to the life cycle of HIV and to all other retroviruses: the reverse transcriptase (RT), the enzyme responsible for synthesis of DNA from viral RNA.
