21. Novel bioinspired and biohybrid electrode materials for hydrogen production
Sammanfattning : This thesis was accomplished under the scope of eSCALED project administrated by EU MSCA horizon 2020 program, which aimed to develop a device called “artificial leaf” responsible for generating fuels or liquid chemicals (H2 production or CO2 reduction) using solar electrolysis. My objective was to develop a noble metal free, efficient cathode materials for H2 production for the device which yield this thesis. LÄS MER
22. Probing Catalytic Reaction Mechanisms of Biomimetic Diiron Complexes through Time-resolved Absorption Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Directed design of improved molecular catalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions relies on rational benchmarking based on a detailed understanding about the mechanism of catalysis. Specifically, investigation of multi-electron redox catalysis, with structural characterization of catalytic intermediates, combined with the kinetics of their transformations, can reveal the rate-limiting step of the overall reaction, possible degradation pathways and the function of structural motives. 23. Ruthenium(II) Polypyridyl Complexes in Supramolecular Systems relevant to Artificial Photosynthesis
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the synthesis and properties of ruthenium complexes relevant to artificial photosynthesis. The work includes preparation of RuIIpolypyridine complexes as well as multi component systems where RuII(bpy)3 or RuII(tpy)2 type complexes are used as photosesnsitizers. LÄS MER
24. Painfully Energetic : A tale of two proteins potentially connected
Sammanfattning : NADH:quinone oxidoreductase (Complex I) is the first enzyme of the respiratory chain and is involved in energy conservation generating an electro-chemical gradient across a membrane. The enzyme can be divided into a membrane spanning domain and a hydrophilic domain, which protrudes from the membrane. LÄS MER
25. The evolution of respiratory chain complex I from smaller functional modules
Sammanfattning : NADH:quinone oxidoreductase, or complex I, is a large membrane bound enzyme in the respiratory chain of living organisms, that has evolved from the combination of smaller functional building blocks. The enzyme has a conserved core structure, comprising 14 protein subunits: Seven subunits protrude from the membrane and contain a flavin and eight iron-sulfur clusters. LÄS MER
