1. Hydro-Mechanical Behaviour of a Pressurised Single Fracture: An In-situ Experiment
Sammanfattning : Exploration of ground water resources, grouting, disposal of nuclear waste and extraction of geothermal energy are examples of activities which require consideration of the relationship between effective stress and transmissivity. However, this relationship is poorly understood and very few investigations have been conducted in field scale. LÄS MER
2. Hydro-mechanical forming of aluminium tubes : on constitutive modelling and process design
Sammanfattning : Tube hydroforming is a forming method which has several advantages. By using pressure in combination with material feeding it is possible to manufacture products with high structural integration and tight dimensional tolerances. The forming method is especially suited for aluminium alloys which have a relatively low ductility. LÄS MER
3. Multi-scale fabric evolution during hydro-mechanical probing of fine-grained soils
Sammanfattning : The majority of the studies on sensitive clays so far have focused on the hydro-mechanical response at engineering scale, using concepts from continuum mechanics. The fundamental mechanisms at particle scale, underpinning the emerging response, have so far been studied with post mortem analyses. LÄS MER
4. Scale and Stress Effects on Hydro-Mechanical Properties of Fractured Rock Masses
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the effects of size and stress on permeability, deformability and strength of fractured rock masses are investigated. A comparison study was carried out to examine the effects of considering, or not considering, the correlation between distributions of fracture apertures and fracture trace lengths on the hydro-mechanical behavior of fractured rocks. 5. Hydro-mechanical properties of a water unsaturated sodium bentonite. Laboratory study and theoretical interpretation
Sammanfattning : Highly compacted bentonite has been proposed as the buffer material in the Swedish concept for the disposal of nuclear waste. To increase the knowledge of the hydro-mechanical behaviour of unsaturated swelling bentonite a series of laboratory experiments was carried out. LÄS MER
