27. Human eosinophils and their activation by allergens via danger signal receptors
Sammanfattning : Human eosinophilic granulocytes are polymorphonuclear cells with a powerful arsenal of cytotoxic substances in their granules, which are mainly found in the gastrointestinal mucosa, and the respiratory and genitourinary tracts. Their physiological role is incompletely understood, although it is likely they protect the mucosal surfaces, perhaps by recognizing danger signals present on microorganisms or released from damaged tissue. 28. Platelets and eosinophils in lung tissue remodelling
Sammanfattning : Tissue injury and inflammation followed by effective repair restores normal function, but defective repair with associated tissue remodelling and fibrosis can lead to loss of organ function. Thus, interactions between inflammatory and mesenchymal cells in connection with the remodelling processes are of considerable importance with regards to the development of pulmonary disorders, since this interplay determines the outcome of the disease. 29. Metachromatic cells and eosinophils in atopic children : A prospective study
Sammanfattning : Metachromatic cells and eosinophil leukocytes were studied prospectively in 64 newborns with and without a family history of atopic disease (FH). Cellfindings in nasal mucosa and peripheral blood were related to development of atopic symptoms up to 18 months of age. For this purpose, a gentle scraping method suitable for infants was developed. 30. Mechanisms of granule protein mobiliation in blood eosinophils
Sammanfattning : Serum levels of eosinophil granule proteins namely ECP, EPO and EPX, which are stored in the matrix of specific granules, were shown to correlate with the course of disease in disorders involving eosinophils. The concentration of eosinophil proteins in serum is the result of their release in vivo and ex vivo during the sampling procedure. LÄS MER
