1. Mass spectrometry-based proteomic strategies applied to Helicobacter pylori. A Search for candidate vaccine antigens
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development and refinement of proteomic strategies and the application of these on the human gastric pathogen H. pylori. The purpose was to identify proteins, and in particular membrane proteins, as potential targets for vaccine development. LÄS MER
2. Storage organelles that are distinct from the classical granules in human neutrophils
Sammanfattning : The human neutrophil is a crucial participant in acute inflammation. Appropriate immune response is dependent on rapid direction of phagocytic cells through the tissue, towards the inflammatory focus. Such movement is governed by chemoattractants, e.g. LÄS MER
3. The cell biology and catalytic properties of the nutrient-induced signaling endoprotease Ssy5
Sammanfattning : Cells continuously sense and respond to changes in the presence, quality and quantity of external and internal nutrients. Specific signaling proteases have been identified based on their roles in processing or destruction of distinct sets of downstream effector proteins in response to environmental cues. LÄS MER
4. CarcinoEmbryonic Antigen-related Cell Adhesion Molecule 8 (CEACAM8) : Purification, Characterization, Cellular and Clinical Studies
Sammanfattning : A 95-kDa protein was purified from normal human granulocytes. The protein reacted with a monoclonal antibody against CEACAM8. MALDI-Tof and MS/MS analyses revealed the protein to be a CGM6 gene product. Thus, the protein was proved to be identical to CEACAM8. LÄS MER
5. In vivo analysis of amino acid permease folding in yeast
Sammanfattning : Plasma membrane (PM) proteins are critical for cells to respond to environmental cues, such as the availability of nutrients. The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is able to sense extracellular amino acids using the SPS sensing system. LÄS MER
