  1. 1. Outcome after surgery for isthmic spondylolisthesis and degenerative disc disease

    Författare :Peter Endler; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Individuals with isthmic spondylolisthesis and lumbar degenerative disc disease may have low back and leg pain. Those with persistent symptoms non-responsive to conservative treatment are sometimes treated surgically. Various surgical methods have been introduced, but long-term outcome comparisons are scarce. 2. 2. On Surgery for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis

    Författare :Peter Försth; Bengt Sandén; Helena Brisby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; spinal stenosis; decompression; fusion; degenerative spondylolisthesis; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi; Neurosurgery; Neurokirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The incidence of lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is steadily rising, mostly because of a noticeably older age structure. In Sweden, LSS surgery has increased continuously over the years and is presently the most common argument to undergo spine surgery. The purpose of the surgery is to decompress the neural elements in the stenotic spinal canal. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Degenerative cervical myelopathy: Surgical treatment, imaging evaluation, and outcome

    Författare :Eddie de Dios Perez; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cervical spondylotic myelopathy; decompression and fusion; degenerative cervical myelopathy; EMS; muscle-preserving laminectomy; MRI; P-mJOA; sagittal alignment; surgical outcome;

    Sammanfattning : Degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) is the most common cause of spinal cord impairment in adults worldwide. The overall aims of this thesis were to compare patient-reported clinical outcomes, adverse events, and cost-effectiveness between decompression alone and decompression with fusion; evaluate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based sagittal alignment measurements; determine postoperative improvement rates and potential predictors of surgical outcome; and compare the patient-derived modified Japanese Orthopaedic Association (P-mJOA) scale with the European Myelopathy Score (EMS) for the assessment of DCM. 4. 4. Lumbar fusion for chronic low-back pain in isthmic spondylolisthesis

    Författare :Per Ekman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Exercise; Outcome; Long-term; interbody fusion; spinal fusion; lumbar; Adjacent segment degeneration; Isthmic spondylolisthesis; Degenerative disc disease; Chronic low back pain; predictor; prospective; pain drawing; sciatica; psychologic screening; Randomized controlled trial;

    Sammanfattning : Manifestation of isthmic spondylolisthesis (IS), with a prevalence of 5% in the general population, varies from totally asymptomatic to severe disability. Although fusion has positive short-term effects, the long-term outcome of such treatment, as well as possible accelerated degeneration of adjacent segment discs (ASD) and its clinical significance, are unknown. 5. 5. Measurement of outcome in lumbar spine surgery : Validity and interpretability of frequently used outcome measures in the Swespine register

    Författare :Catharina Parai; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; spine register; disc herniation; spinal stenosis; degenerative disc disorder; patient-reported outcome measure; Global Assessment; minimal important change; smallest detectable change; retest reliability; non-response to follow-up; attrition; measurement of change;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND. The purpose of elective lumbar spine surgery is mainly to reduce pain and to improve physical function and quality of life. The quality and results of the interventions are monitored in the Swedish spine register, Swespine. LÄS MER
