11. Pregnancy Complications and Cardiovascular Disease
Sammanfattning : Women with a history of pregnancy complications have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) later in life. The overall aims were to investigate pregnancy complications as cardiovascular risk factors; whether they have predictive value for the spread of atherosclerosis in older women, whether they are associated with atherosclerotic CVD after adjusting for major confounders, both at the population-level and in women with structural heart disease; and to investigate cardiovascular biomarkers in women with spontaneous preterm birth. 12. Impact of chronic total occlusions, arterial access site, and pretreatment with antiplatelet drugs on mortality in patients with ischemic heart disease: A report from the SWEDEHEART registry
Sammanfattning : Impact of chronic total occlusions, arterial access site and pretreatment with antiplatelet drugs on mortality in patients with ischemic heart disease: A report from the SWEDEHEART registry Background Treatment of ischemic heart disease has advanced substantially in the past half-century. However, despite these achievements the survival rates in high-income countries such as Sweden have reached a plateau in the last decade. LÄS MER
13. Severe trauma : risks and outcomes

14. NT-proBNP as a marker of postoperative heart failure in adult cardiac surgery
Sammanfattning : Postoperative heart failure (PHF) remains the major cause of mortality after cardiac surgery. Unfortunately, generally accepted diagnostic criteria for PHF are lacking. This may explain why the evidence for the efficacy and safety of current treatment of PHF with inotropes is insufficient. LÄS MER
15. Studies on the links between white adipose tissue phenotype and the circulatory system
Sammanfattning : Obesity is a strong risk factor for cardiovascular disease. It is defined by an unhealthy excess of white adipose tissue (WAT). Adipose derived weight gains and losses are linked to changes in two other independent cardiovascular risk factors: hypertension, and arterial stiffness. LÄS MER
