  1. 21. On the binding of growth-promoting polyamines to proteoglycans: Implications for growth-regulation and polycation-mediated gene transfer

    Författare :Mattias Belting; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; cationic lipid.; gene transfer; gene therapy; cell growth; polyamine transport; spermine; polyamine; growth-inhibition; heparan sulphate; dermatan sulphate; Proteoglycan; glycosaminoglycan; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : Initial investigations were directed at studying the interaction between polyamines and various glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). The polyamine spermine displayed binding to dermatan sulphate (DS) and heparan sulphate (HS) with similar (Kd, 3.9 x 10-4 M) and higher (Kd, 0.37 x 10-6 M) affinity, respectively, than to DNA. 2. 22. Role of the CD47/SIRPα-interaction in regulation of macrophage phagocytosis

    Författare :Mattias Olsson; Per-Arne Oldenborg; Hans Tapper; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; immunology; cell biology; Histology; Histologi;

    Sammanfattning : CD47 is a cell surface glycoprotein that is expressed by virtually all cells in the body. Binding of CD47 to the macrophage receptor Signal Regulatory Protein alpha (SIRPα) yields an inhibitory signal that counteracts phagocytosis. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Dynamic aspects of nucleocytoplasmic trafficking

    Författare :Cecilia Rustum; Einar Hallberg; Urs Greber; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular structures and compartmentalization is the result of a dynamic steady state exchange between its components. This thesis is focused in investigations of dynamic properties of green fluorescent protein (GFP)-labeled proteins in live cells using confocal laser microscopy in combination with bleaching techniques such as fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) and fluorescence loss in photobleaching (FLIP). 4. 24. A Study of Eosinophils – From the Human Thymus to Eosinophilic Esophagitis

    Författare :Sofie Albinsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Eosinophil; Eosinophilic esophagitis; Galectin-10; Human; Patient-reported outcome; T cell; Thymocyte; Thymus;

    Sammanfattning : Eosinophils are cells of the innate immune system. They primarily reside within tissues and are most numerous in the gastrointestinal tract but are absent from the healthy esophagus. During the inflammatory disease eosinophilic esophagitis, eosinophils infiltrate the esophagus but their function is unknown. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Ribosome and ribosomal RNA Structure : An experimental and computational analysis of expansion segments in eukaryotic ribosomal RNA

    Författare :Gunnar Alkemar; Odd Nygård; Anders Virtanen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; eukaryotes; expansion segment; ribosomes; rRNA; secondary structure; structure of rRNA.; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; cellbiologi; Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Ribosomes are large ribonucleoprotein complexes which incorporate amino acids into peptide chains during translational process in all types of living cells. The eukaryotic ribosome is larger compared to its prokaryotic counterpart. LÄS MER
