21. Soil moisture conditions control nutrient accumulation, carbon storage and tree growth in boreal forest landscapes
Sammanfattning : Forest and soil properties change across landscapes due to the complex interactions between various environmental factors. In many landscapes, topography exerts a major influence on the variation in soil moisture conditions, which in turn largely affects soil properties and processes. LÄS MER
22. Diffusion of energy-efficient technologies in EU residential buildings
Sammanfattning : Residential buildings constitute approximately 75% of the European building stock, accounting for around 30% of the EU´s overall energy demand and emissions. They also represent one of the biggest sources of energy saving potential, thus holding a crucial role in achieving EU carbon targets. LÄS MER
23. On the Uptake of Energy Efficiency Technologies in European Residential Buildings
Sammanfattning : Residential buildings constitute approximately 75% of the European building stock, accounting for circa 30% of the EU´s overall energy demand and emissions. They also represent one of the biggest sources of energy saving potential, holding a crucial role in achieving EU carbon targets. LÄS MER
24. Impacts of pine and eucalyptus plantations on carbon and nutrients stocks and fluxes in miombo forests ecosystems
Sammanfattning : Knowledge of how commercial pine and eucalyptus plantations affect soil carbon and nutrient status is important in Mozambique, where incentives are available to increase the area of forest plantations and also to conserve mature miombo forests. Tree species growing on similar sites may affect ecosystem carbon differently if they allocate carbon to aboveground and belowground parts at different rates. LÄS MER
25. New Materials in Environmental Catalysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents new approaches to the control of emissions within the field of environmental catalysis. Three catalytic systems; bimetallic catalysts, perovskites and promoted catalysts have been prepared and evaluated for complete oxidation of volatile organic compounds and for simultaneous conversion of CO, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides.
