21. The implications of trade and offshoring for growth and wages
Sammanfattning : In their pursuit of profits, adventure and new markets, humans have traded since prehistoric times. The relations between trade, profits and technological change, how- ever, were not the main concern of early economists ranging from Aristotle to the mercantilists. LÄS MER
22. Essays on Trade, Growth and Exchange Rates
Sammanfattning : In the first chapter we test if Purchasing Power Parity, PPP, is empirically valid and when that is not the case we test if productivity growth differences can account for the deviations from PPP by co-integration analysis. Interestingly, the results lend support in favour of PPP in several cases and when PPP is rejected GDP per capita growth rate differences seem to explain the long-run deviations from PPP. LÄS MER
23. Zinc-enriched neurons in the spinal cord, cerebellum and peripheral sympathetic system
Sammanfattning : Zinc ions are abundant in the nervous system and are involved in many biological functions. Most zinc is tightly bound to macromolecules, whereas a small fraction of zinc exists in synaptic vesicles of the zinc-enriched (ZEN) neurons, and can be visualized using various histochemical techniques, including autometallography (AMG). 24. Development of coke properties during the descent in the blast furnace
Sammanfattning : The efficiency in use of reducing agents in blast furnace (BF) ironmaking has been significantly improved over the years. At most blast furnaces, auxiliary fuels are injected to replace some of the coke. To further reduce carbon consumption, prevention of losses and modification of raw materials or process conditions are required. LÄS MER
25. Distribution of glycosphingolipids in nervous tissue. Immunohistochemical and biochemical studies
Sammanfattning : Glycosphingolipids (GSLs) are highly enriched in cell membranes of the mammalian nervous system. Their biological functions are not clarified although recent findings have supported their existence in plasma membrane domains, enriched in cholesterol, sphingomyelin and GSLs. LÄS MER
