  1. 1. Zinc-enriched neurons in the spinal cord, cerebellum and peripheral sympathetic system

    Författare :Zhan-You Wang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :autometallography; axonal transport; confocal laser scanning microscopy; immuno-electron microscopy; immunofluorescence; inhibitory neurons; sympathetic neurons; synaptic vesicles; zinc ions; zinc transporter;

    Sammanfattning : Zinc ions are abundant in the nervous system and are involved in many biological functions. Most zinc is tightly bound to macromolecules, whereas a small fraction of zinc exists in synaptic vesicles of the zinc-enriched (ZEN) neurons, and can be visualized using various histochemical techniques, including autometallography (AMG). 2. 2. Immune cells in pregnant uterine mucosa : functional properties, cellular composition and tissue organization

    Författare :Lucia Mincheva-Nilsson; Sten Hammarström; Rolf Kiessling; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; immunologically privileged site; TCR γδ cells; CD56 cells; large granular lymphocytes; immunosuppression; cytokine; interleukin; lymphoid cell cluster; intraepithelial lymphocytes; glandular epithelium; immuno electron microscopy; pregnancy; decidua; lactoferrin; lactoferrin receptor; colostrum;

    Sammanfattning : The pregnant uterus mucosa - decidua - is an "immunologically privileged" site. A semiallogeneic embryo is allowed to survive, develop, and grow while the same tissue implanted outside the uterus will be rejected. The decidua basalis, which participates in the placenta formation, is a tissue rich in lymphoid cells. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cell motility : the organization of the microfilament system in cultured cells with special emphasis on the cortical weave of actin filaments

    Författare :Roger Karlsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The microfilament system formed by actin, myosin and associated proteins constitutes the molecular basis for many of the motile phenomena which eukaryotic cells express. The organization of this system varies considerably from cell type to cell type, and is characterized on one hand by strictly ordered, more or less flexible arrangements of actin filaments and on the other by actin present in primarily a nonfilamentous form ready to polymerize in response to certain stimuli. 4. 4. The expression of the structural proteins dendrin and Neph1 in the glomerular filtration barrier in proteinuria

    Författare :Jenny Hulkko; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In the normal kidney, the glomerular filtration barrier successfully clears about one litre blood per minute. Damage to the filtration barrier might lead to protein leakage in the urine – proteinuria. The major ultra-structural finding in glomerular diseases with proteinuria is foot process effacement (FPE). 5. 5. Mechanisms of granule protein mobiliation in blood eosinophils

    Författare :Malgorzata Karawajczyk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; eosinophil granule proteins; ECP; EPX; EPO; serum levels; piecemeal degranulation; release; ultrastructure; subcellular fractionation; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Serum levels of eosinophil granule proteins namely ECP, EPO and EPX, which are stored in the matrix of specific granules, were shown to correlate with the course of disease in disorders involving eosinophils. The concentration of eosinophil proteins in serum is the result of their release in vivo and ex vivo during the sampling procedure. LÄS MER
