  1. 6. Ultrastructure of the Primary Cell Wall of Softwood Fibres Studied using Dynamic FT-IR Spectroscopy

    Författare :Jasna Stevanic Srndovic; Lars Wågberg; Per M. Claesson; Paul Gatenholm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; primary cell wall; polymer interactions; viscoelasticity; dynamic FT-IR spectroscopy; dynamic 2D FT-IR spectroscopy; cellulose; xyloglucan; pectin; protein; lignin; low degree sulphonation; cellulose allomorphs; Wood fibre and forest products; Träfiber- och virkeslära;

    Sammanfattning : The primary cell wall is a complex multipolymer system whose composite structure has been mostly determined from chemical and biochemical studies. Although the primary cell wall serves a central role, with regard to the connective properties of fibres, knowledge about the interactions among the polymers, when it comes to the mechanical properties, is very limited. 2. 7. Ethylene and Auxin in the Control of Wood Formation

    Författare :Jenny Maria Hellgren; SLU; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; auxin ; ethylene ; lignification ; growth rate ; fibres ; cambium ; gas chromatography ; reaction wood ; organic acids ; mass spectrometry ; populus tremula ; pinus sylvestris; biology; biologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis considers aspects of the regulation of growth rate and fibre properties in forest trees. These properties are both genetically determined and influenced by environmental stimuli. Induction of reaction wood is an environmentally induced process involving changes in growth rate and fibre properties that can be readily studied. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Fibrous feeds for functional fowls

    Författare :Robin Kalmendal; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Fibres are not digested by fowls, but their impact on digestive physiology, nutrient metabolism and intestinal microflora can be substantial. Analytical shortcomings have historically contributed to different notions on the significance of fibres, but modern techniques now enable us to better discriminate between various fractions of fibre and relate them with the performance of poultry. 4. 9. Effects of Ageing and Physical Activity on Regulation of Muscle Contraction

    Författare :Alexander Cristea; Lars Larsson; Anna-Stina Höglund; Ingrid Lundberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; ageing; sarcopenia; sprint training; progressive resistance training; in vivo function; isokinetic dynamometer; in vitro function; single permeabilised fibre; myonuclear domain; confocal microscopy; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this study were to investigate the mechanisms underlying (1) the ageing-related motor handicap at the whole muscle, cellular, contractile protein and myonuclear levels; and (2) ageing-related differences in muscle adaptability.In vivo muscles function was studied in the knee extensors. 5. 10. Characterisation of wood-fibre—based materials using image analysis

    Författare :Erik Wernersson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Wood fibres are the main constituent of paper and are also used to alter properties of plastics in wood-fibre—based composite materials. The manufacturing of these materials involves numerous parameters that determine the quality of the products. LÄS MER
