  1. 6. Aspects of renal blood flow and oxygenation in acute kidney injury during severe infections

    Författare :Tomas Luther; Robert Frithiof; Michael Hultström; Per Liss; Rafael Kawati; Anders Åneman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute kidney injury; renal blood flow; renal oxygenation; COVID-19; fluids; mitochondria; sepsis; acute respiratory distress syndrome; magnetic resonance imaging; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication in patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). Severe infections/sepsis is the most common aetiology, and about half of patients treated in the ICU due to sepsis are affected. Although AKI often resolves over time, the development of AKI decreases the chances of surviving. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Platelet reactivity and comorbidities in acute coronary syndrome

    Författare :Fredrik Björklund; Thomas Mooe; David Erlinge; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute coronary syndrome; myocardial infarction; platelet reactivity; platelet aggregation; Inflammation; infection; diabetes mellitus; chronic kidney disease; acute kidney injury; Cardiology; kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background In the event of an acute coronary syndrome (ACS), the risk of death and complications such as stroke and re-infarction is high during the first month. Diabetes, impaired kidney function, elevated markers of systemic inflammation and high level of platelet reactivity have all been associated with worsened prognosis in ACS patients. LÄS MER

  3. 8. The Role of Angiotensin II in Experimental Acute Kidney Injury and Cardiorenal Failure

    Författare :Sofia Jönsson; Michael Hultström; Helle Prætorius Øhrwald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Heart failure; Acute kidney injury; Angiotensin II; Fluid balance; Cardiac function; Renal function;

    Sammanfattning : Blood pressure and fluid regulation are kept constant through the interaction between heart and kidneys. When the systemic blood pressure decreases, the levels of the hormone Angiotensin II increase, leading to vasoconstriction and therefore increased blood pressure. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Prevention and treatment of acute kidney injury after cardiac surgery

    Författare :Bengt Redfors; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kidney failure; acute glomerular filtration rate renal circulation oxygen consumption cardiac surgery mannitol dopamine norepinephrine autoregulation;

    Sammanfattning : Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs frequently after cardiac surgery and is independently associated with increased mortality. The main cause of AKI in these patients is renal ischemia. LÄS MER
